Holistic pain relief

For more than 20 years, Dr. Deeb Alawan, of Pro-Active Chiropractic, has helped hundreds of people find relief from pain. Here’s how he can help you, too.

Dr. Deeb Alawan, of Pro-Active Chiropractic, customizes minimally invasive, non-surgical care plans for patients from 1 day old to 90-plus years old so they can function at their optimal levels and lead pain-free lives.

Dr. Deeb Alawan took a circuitous path to a career in chiropractic care. During spring football training at Miami University, he seriously injured his back while bench-pressing over 500 pounds.

He laid in a hospital bed for five days in excruciating pain. His doctor and parents wanted to operate to repair two herniated disks. He, however, decided to harness the power of less invasive chiropractic care.

Within eight weeks he was back on the football field.

“Before my injury, I was leaning toward a pre-med curriculum to one day become an ER doctor. After the injury, I knew I wanted to help others by being a chiropractor,” says Dr. Deeb.

Dr. Deeb graduated in 2007 and later founded Pro-Active Chiropractic in Strongsville.

Over the years, he’s customized minimally invasive, non-surgical care plans for patients from 1 day old to 90-plus years old, helping babies, children, teens, athletes (high school, college, professionals, Olympians) and seniors function at their optimal levels and lead pain-free lives.

“I treat everything from back and neck pain to extremities, headaches, ear infections, carpal tunnel, asthma, sciatica, neuropathy, inflammation, breach babies, colic, constipation and geriatric issues,” says Dr. Deeb. “I also spent eight years as a paramedic in the City of Cleveland, which was a helpful experience in my background as a healthcare provider.”

The advanced treatment equipment at Pro-Active is state-of-the-art, including a cold laser and computerized spinal decompression tables.

“My holistic approach addresses the underlying cause of pain, not just the symptoms,” he says. “I want my patients feeling and moving their best long term through services they can afford. I also take the time to teach patients exercise movements to do at home that will support our treatment.”

Your Hometown Healer

Dr. Deeb is proud to have grown up in Strongsville and, along with his wife Cindy, raise his children here.

“This is our hometown and always will be,” he says. “After chiropractic school, we knew there was nowhere but Strongsville for me to practice.”

A Chamber of Commerce member and loyal volunteer, Dr. Deeb was inducted into the Strongsville High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his achievements in wrestling and football. He’s proud that his son has followed in his footsteps, playing football in high school and at Ashland University. He plans to head to chiropractic school in the fall.

Meet Jeanette B.

After I interviewed Dr. Deeb, when he was walking me to the door, we met an 80-something-year-old couple waiting in the reception area.

They had just driven from Marblehead, more than 60 miles away, for an adjustment from Dr. Deeb.

On a cane, and clearly in pain and suffering from mobility issues, Jeanette says she needed help from him so she could get on a plane to go visit her sisters in Florida.

“Since she has osteoporosis, I need to be strategic using an activator to reach bone, muscle and nerves,” he says. “This adjustment addresses biomechanics as well as neurology. She suffers from frozen shoulder, which can affect other parts of the body. The goal is to increase blood flow and oxygen to the affected areas, encouraging the body’s natural healing mechanism to kick in.”

After adjustments to her ankles, legs, back and shoulders, Jeanette went from not being able to lift her arms to having increased movement and pain reduction.

“No other doctor has addressed my pain and kept me functioning like Dr. Deeb. He works miracles.”
