Senior living for a new generation

Generations Healthcare Management is proud to be the managing organization of both Berea Lake Towers and Crystal Waters retirement communities.
The family of company founder Robert Coury continues his legacy by providing the same support and services people have come to expect throughout the years. It is in this spirit that the next generation has chosen to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the organization by changing the names of both of its communities. They are now known as Generations Senior Living of Berea, and Generations Senior Living of Strongsville.
Same Owners, New Name
“The renaming simply serves to unify our communities and further cement our commitment to provide exceptional care for our residents,” says Regional Marketing Director Kim Bergmann.
There is no change in ownership, management or staff at either community.
“The exceptional care and services on which our reputation is built remains the same. We are Generations caring for generations,” she adds.
“Generations Senior Living of Strongsville recently received a deficiency free Ohio Department of Health state survey for the seventh consecutive year. Families place their trust in us, and that means everything to our team.”
Resort-Like Amenities, Home-Like Charm
“Our building is designed to look like a resort, and that’s what people mention as their first impression,” says Executive Director Amber Voorheis. “When you walk in, you are greeted by a soothing waterfall that leads to a three-story atrium.”
The community recently underwent a renovation, including new carpeting, furniture and fixtures. The first floor includes a formal dining room, fireplace lounge and a baby grand piano. There is also a private dining area for residents to host family and friends for those special occasions.
Overlooking the open atrium is an activity room for cooking and art classes. The recently refurbished game room features a mahogany poker table and a variety of games for residents to enjoy.
The 76 spacious apartments at Generations Senior Living feature kitchens with full-sized appliances. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, all homemade, are served daily in the dining room. And Happy Hour has become a must-do social get-together.
Always on the Go
In addition to a wide range of daily programs, the residents here are always on the go, whether it’s shopping trips, visits to the Senior Center, lunch at J-Bella or trips to the casino. And just coming off an exquisite 50th Anniversary Celebration and Halloween trick-or-treat event, Amber reveals there are plenty of parties planned, including the annual resident and family Christmas party in December.
“Contributing to our community means the world to the residents and staff. We love giving back,” says Amber.
“This year we are organizing an Adopt-a-Family Program. We have adopted three families that reside in Strongsville. Our goal is to give these families a little extra help during the holiday season by providing much-needed items and gifts. We are also supporting our local Rotary Club with its clothing drive for the homeless.”
A Place Where Family Means Everything
“As a second-generation, family-owned and operated business headquartered in Berea, we treat residents like family and always put their living experience first,” says owner Phil Coury.
“This is their home and we do our best to love it and care for it like it’s our own home.”
Hugs All the Way Around
The residents agree on one thing: The staff goes above and beyond to make them feel at home.
Says Ramona, who reports watercolor painting is one of her favorite activities, “Even though the first thing that impressed me about this place was the wide-open feel of the architecture, the caring staff is what really makes the atmosphere. They go out of their way to care for me. Every day I get hugs from them, and I reciprocate and give them hugs back, since they work so hard every day to make us happy.”
“We have very active adults who still drive their own cars and come and go all of the time,” Amber shares.
“They’ve just reached the point in their lives where they want to be able to socialize with other residents and have someone else cook their meals and do their laundry. They want to enjoy their life more and no longer worry about keeping up a home.”
For those who need additional services, Generations offers medication management, assistance with personal care and mobility assistance to meals.
