Consign Home Couture—a haven for high-end furniture and luxurious home décor—is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month in signature style.

“Many of our loyal shoppers drive from miles away and always comment on the vast changes in inventory each week. Certainly the saying ‘Miss a day, miss a lot’ applies here,” says owner Susan Brown.

“Almost two-thirds of our arrivals sell in the first 30 days and less than 10 percent are unsold after the four-month consignment period. After 10 years, we understand our market and only take consignments we know will sell. It is a different mindset than many others. We also have a wish list for shoppers looking for a particular piece of furniture. We are ‘social workers’ for furniture by maintaining a wish list for our clients.”

Consign Home Couture offers 24-hour courtesy holds for clients needing to measure or in many cases, to consult with their decorator, spouse or friend. It only takes one time for shoppers to learn not to delay in purchasing a piece, when they discover someone else bought it yesterday.

“We also offer a 24-hour return policy. Customer satisfaction is key in our business,” Susan comments.

“We have a good rapport with both consignors and buyers and they are quick to express their appreciation of how we run our business. My mom taught me early on in her consignment business that like a successful relationship, treating people like you expect to be treated is critical and you have to be forthright in selecting inventory. If we can’t sell it, the consignor isn’t going to be happy and we aren’t going to be in business. Consign Home Couture maintains a standard that our clients can count on.”

Furniture with a Pedigree
Covering the over 7,000 plus square feet of showroom, you’ll discover room vignettes spanning an eclectic variety of tastes—vintage, traditional, transitional, French country rustic, farmhouse chic, contemporary and global fusion—as well as soaring display walls of artwork including artist-signed pieces and mirrors galore, and a glamorous collection of lighting fixtures, from chandeliers to floor lamps and table lamps.

On any given day, you’ll find brands from A to Z such as Arhaus, Ballard Design, Bernhardt, Century, Crate and Barrel, Drexel, Ethan Allen, Habersham, MacKenzie Childs, Maitland Smith, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Thomasville and Z-Gallerie, just to name a few.

Susan says most of their beautiful pieces come in from people who are moving, whether it’s downsizing or just making a change to a new home style. With 4,500-plus consigners, she also reports that sometimes people simply want to refresh their homes, so they consign with them and pick out something different when their piece sells.

When asked what some of her personal favorite pieces are, the super stylish proprietor admits to a penchant for all things that are bold, but classic with a twist of rustic. For instance, in the main photo background, Susan picked all her current favorites from the showroom.

“I especially love the Restoration Hardware antiqued gray oak dresser and nightstands from the St. James Collection, mixed with some Arhaus accent pieces,” she explains.

“Your home decor should reflect your personality and if done correctly, create a personal, relaxing and comfortable haven. We enjoy helping you feather your nest with what suits you best.

Fresh for the Holidays
With holiday fetes nearly upon us, now is the ideal time to take stock of your home and refresh your living space.

In addition to furniture—sofas, sectionals, chairs, barstools, tables, sideboards, and bedroom sets—Consign Home Couture offers all the sophisticated accent pieces on your wish list, from pillows to vases, sculptures, lamps, artwork, barware and designer florals.

For seasoned travelers, globally infused items such as African masks and Asian calligraphy paintings add interest to any room.

And with so many homeowners opting for hard flooring surfaces nowadays, especially this time of year, rugs are in high demand.

Says Susan, “We offer every style, from Persian to Oriental, flat woven to deep plush, in silk, wool, cotton and sisal. And whatever size you’re looking for, from bigger full room sizes to runners and doorway rugs, we’ve got a nice selection.”

When it comes to holiday décor, the showroom has just unveiled its collections of ornaments and oh-so-cute decorative items for every room in the home.

“We’ve got a colorful variety of ornaments from designers like Christopher Radko, MacKenzie Childs and intricate pewter pieces from local artist Don Drumm,” she says.

For those who are still in fall decor mode, they offer lovely decorations, china pumpkins, leaf garland and adorable table-top florals and linens.

One-of-a-Kind Treasures
Even a whimsical piece of art that makes a room really interesting can be found here. Case in point: The Foo Dog. As seen in the main photo (Susan has her hand resting on one), these precious sculptures are actually Chinese guardian lions, and are thought to both protect and bring luck to the home they reside in.

As featured on Houzz, these strikingly colorful, sought-after sculptures have become the darlings of interior designers.

“We cannot keep them in the store,” she says.

Handbags range from roomy and luscious suede oversized messenger bags for everyday to delightful little evening bags with velvet, cut crystal and feather accents from Prada, Kate Spade, Michael Kors and Coach, among others.
