Serving on the Avon Lake School Board, travelling the world as director for international cooperative development for a global financial services company, and being an overscheduled mom to four kids doesn’t leave Jenefer Machovina much time to focus on her own health.

When the clock struck 50 last year, she decided it was time to add strength training to her daily walking routine.

“Around the same time, I read a story about MaxStrength Fitness in Mimi magazine, and it seemed like exactly what I needed,” she says.

Counting the Ways She Loves Them
Not surprising, Jenefer is extremely well-organized. The day of our interview she came to the meeting armed with detailed explanations of why she loves MaxStrength:

1. Professionalism – “Unlike big box gyms I’ve belonged to over the years, there’s no guesswork involved. My trainer is here waiting for me every time I walk through the door. Everything is intentional. Workouts, weights and movements are precisely individualized to my goals.”

2. Convenience – “Time is a rare commodity. At first, I was skeptical that 20 minutes twice a week would be enough to make a difference. But it is. I think the secret sauce is the equipment, which is geared toward very slow, intense movement. When you leave a session, your whole body feels pleasantly fatigued.”

3. Simplicity – “Since studio temps are kept chilly, there’s no need for a shower afterward. I never sweat. This is a game-changer in terms of timing. I can go right from a session to Zoom meetings. You can’t do that with most trainers or classes. They also go the extra mile by offering a scheduling app, so I can set appointments from anywhere.”

And the most important reason? Results.

“I felt my muscles strengthening after the first few sessions, then rebuilding within the first month,” she says. “I feel much stronger, more flexible and energetic. These workouts have affected my quality of life in a wonderful way. I would recommend MaxStrength Fitness to anyone looking for a powerful strength component they can fit into their lifestyle that offers positive motivation and accountability.”

Deceptively Delish Copycat Salad Recipe
Not only does Jenefer enjoy the in-person experience at MSF, but she also appreciates the healthy tips in MaxStrength founder Jeff Tomaszewski’s online newsletter.

“It’s geared toward creating a healthier mindset and overcoming obstacles from a holistic perspective,” she says. “The emails are loaded with positive life hacks. For instance, I’ll be trying the copycat recipe from last week on a popular restaurant’s chicken salad.”

For the record, that copycat recipe was one of the most popular newsletters Jeff has ever sent.

The healthy version of the salad includes:
4 C greens
1 cooked and diced chicken breast
4 large strawberries, hulled and sliced
½ C blueberries
¼ C goat cheese crumbles
¼ C chopped toasted pecans.

Whisk the dressing or assemble in a mason jar:
½ t sea salt
1 T honey
2 T apple cider vinegar
¼ C plain Greek yogurt
1 T extra-virgin olive oil
1 t poppy seeds.
