Accelerated Fitness opened with one goal in mind—to put everybody on pace to reach their personal best, whatever their motivation.

The motivation to achieve any fitness goal, whether it might be to bulk up or to slim down, comes from seeing “results” says Jeff Cheatham, who owns the full-service gym along with his wife, Lindsey, and members of his extended family, Mike and Lisa Peterlin.

Instead of following the latest fad diet with the false hope of rapid results, the trainers at Accelerated Fitness take an integrated, scientific approach to weight training, cardio and nutrition. Jeff explains that while there are no shortcuts to achieving one’s optimal health, there are better, more efficient, more evidence-based routes.

“There are no magic pills,” says Jeff. “We have the knowledge base and the passion to guide people to the real, lasting results they’re after.”

But don’t sweat it—too much.

“We’re a gym for everybody. Yeah, we’ve got the leg and back equipment and the 150 lb. dumbbells for the bodybuilders, but what we’ve really created is a clean and well-equipped environment for a personalized experience, so everybody can get a great workout,” says Jeff.

“We’re a community and everybody is welcome.”

You can even bring the kids. Accelerated Fitness, which opened January 1, 2018, at Montville Centre in Medina, includes a supervised play area for children.

“The play area gives moms and dads time to build relationships through group exercise classes, or simply gives mom the time to either work out on her own or with a personal trainer. She knows her kids are safe and engaged with arts and crafts or some other activity,” says Lindsey.

Jeff jokes that the play area forces parents to retire their favorite excuse for skipping a workout.

“Who doesn’t want to set a good example for their kids?” he asks. Jeff adds that the play area is an essential part of sustaining a sense of community at Accelerated Fitness, since it makes it easier for busy parents to fully commit to the lifestyle changes that lead to lasting results.

“Results are achievable, but it takes more than seven minutes to get great abs,” says Jeff. “If you’re willing to put in the effort, our community is here to support you and help you get there.”

Group exercise classes also contribute to a sense of community. Members are free to find what motivates them through a multitude of classes at no additional charge. Classes include Spinning, Zumba, Pure Muscle, MMA Conditioning, Yoga Flow and, of course, Xtreme Abs.

“Group exercise classes are a great place to start if you’re a beginner, and they represent an opportunity to build friendships,” says Lisa.

Jeff adds that there’s a beneficial social component of group exercise classes. “People see better results,” he says. “Because they’re actively participating in a group, they’re more likely to come to their workouts.”

As a personal trainer for 15 years and a competitive bodybuilder, Jeff has had a lifelong interest in fitness.

“I’m passionate about fitness, I’m passionate about helping people get the results they want. I’m passionate about creating an environment where everybody is motivated to get results.”
