The outrageous demand for outdoor pools is a pandemic phenomenon. Since the phones at Candyapple Nursery & Landscape have been ringing off the hook with people looking for outdoor pool installation, the owners decided to respond to the demand by switching their pool supplier so they can squeeze in more jobs this year.

The new manufacturer, Thursday Pools, located in Indiana, provides the same high-quality, freedom of design and lifetime warranty that the former pool maker did, but with a faster lead time for installation.

Best In Class

Aside from your standard rectangular pool, this company has reimagined what a pool can be…from cascading multilevel configurations to built-in benches within the perimeter, splash zones and walk-in beach entry. Choose from a multitude of shapes (square, rectangular, round, curvaceous) to fit any lifestyle, from longer narrow ones for lap swimmers and ones large enough for regulation beach volleyball, to the aptly named Goliath that totes in at 16x41 feet, perfect for those who like to throw big parties and believe that anything worth doing is worth overdoing. Some feature luxurious sunken spas with soothing spillover for the adults to kick back with a beverage or two after the little ones have gone to bed. To fit nicely with smaller yards, they also offer wading pools and solo spas.

The owners at Candyapple report there are several openings in the late summer and early fall for homeowners to turn their backyard into a dreamy oasis.

The Multigenerational Effect
Many of the clients that Candyapple installed pools for last year were retirees and seniors who said they wanted their home to become the destination for their kids and grandkids to enjoy. They definitely received more visits than ever before.

Some of the pool and surrounding elements resemble five-star resorts, with outdoor bars and kitchens, large built-in grills, wine coolers and tiki bars. The designers think of absolutely everything, down to finding and buying commercial-grade blenders.

Finding Your Happy Place

If you’re not one of the lucky few who book their pool for this year, now is a good time to sit down with the designers to plan for a 2023 installation and lock into current pricing. Who knows where we will be in terms of supply chain shortages next year?

Why not put your own private backyard Margaritaville on the old bucket list? Just imagine firing up the blender, blasting a few Jimmy Buffett tunes and jumping into the cool blue waters of your ultimate happy place.

Nursery Opening
Calling all green thumbs and green thumb wannabes. Candyapple Nursery will open to the public on Friday, April 15.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the last frost in the Cleveland area should occur in mid-April, so now’s the time to start planning your gardens and landscaping. All the plant materials nurtured and sold here—trees, shrubs, flowers and plants—are grown in Ohio.

The folks at Candyapple have hand-picked high-end stock that’s properly acclimated to our climate and conditions, perfectly perched to thrive in Zone 5. They select the most vibrant species available each season, which also require the least amount of maintenance.

If DIY is not your strong suit, you can bring a photo of your home, or an inspiration of a landscape you love, and the super creative designers can help you come up with a complementary or similar design to fit or match it.
