Before the first nail is hammered, Bob Gallese, owner of Acclaim Renovations & Design, calls for a pre-construction meeting, gathering all of the key players, from the homeowner to the field supervisor and any tradesmen who will work on the job.

“If a job starts off right, it usually ends right,” says Bob. “Our commitment lies in making the process as smooth as possible for the homeowner during construction. We realize how stressful a renovation can be, and we do our best to make sure it’s an enjoyable experience.”

Every aspect of the job is discussed, from point of entry—either through a lock box or garage code—to establishing staging areas for the materials, usually the garage. All of the materials in the job binder, including design sketches and timeline, are reviewed one more time.

Bob says he heard about the concept of the pre-construction meeting at a national industry roundtable he attended many years ago.

“The number one reason people say they are unhappy with their contractor is poor communication,” he says.

“This is just one of the steps we take to make sure we are all on the same page. Another is our online communications portal, Co-Construct, that lets people communicate with us or review their selections anytime, 24/7. By the time of the meeting, the homeowner has already been signed into it.”

Streamlining the timing of jobs is also important to us. From the first day our tradesmen begin, all of the materials needed, from cabinetry to counters and flooring, are either on our trucks or in the warehouse.

“We do everything possible on our end to make sure there are no delays or work stoppages,” says Bob.

“And while we are in the home during construction, we take care to move pictures and keep the job site neat and tidy. Ninety percent of the time, people are not in the home while we are working, and we respect the trust they put in us.”
