With the launch of its newest office in Medina, Apex Dermatology is helping people of all ages love their skin again

When Dr. Jorge Garcia-Zuazaga founded Apex Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center in 2011, he had a mission to transform lives through healthy skin. Whether helping a patient to become cancer free, improving the acne of a patient, diminishing scarring or smoothing away wrinkles, Apex has been empowering its patients ever since.
And to help more Northeast Ohioans, Apex is expanding its reach. In September 2018, Apex is opening a new office in Medina. In October 2018, an office in Westlake is slated to open. These two offices will join the other five facilities in Concord, Mayfield Heights, Solon, Hudson and Parma to offer comprehensive skin cancer surgery, medical dermatology and innovative aesthetic services.

“When I founded Apex Dermatology, my vision was to create a complete dermatology center where patients can experience the highest level of dermatologic care with same-day service,” says Dr. Garcia, who served as a U.S. Marine flight surgeon prior to relocating to Cleveland for his dermatology residency at University Hospitals and completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School.
“People should not have to wait three months for skin cancer treatment or sit two hours in the waiting room to be seen.”
It is this patient-centric approach—offering same-day appointments, short wait times and a friendly staff—which has catapulted Apex Dermatology to become a local leader in skin care.
Although the offices are equipped with the latest high-tech machines and advanced lasers, it is the dedicated, caring staff that elevates Apex to the top of its profession.
Setting the tone in the new Medina office is Dr. Lauren Karpinski. With a bachelor of arts in zoology from Miami University and a doctor of medicine from Case Western Reserve University, her approachable, friendly demeanor puts clients at ease.
“I get to the root of the problem and solve it collaboratively with patients so they take an active role in their health care,” says Dr. Karpinski.
“Our number one priority is making sure patients are happy with their care.”
Joining Dr. Karpinski in the new office is medical aesthetician Dianne Goodbar. With more than a decade of experience, Dianne offers a variety of acne and anti-aging treatments, body contouring, chemical peels and micro-needling under medical supervision.
“I am interested in nutrition, mental and physical wellness as influencers on skin health,” comments Dianne, who is also a certified yoga instructor and practitioner.
“I take a holistic approach to skin care and am passionate about helping patients improve their appearance and well-being.”
Whether a child with eczema, a teenager with acne, an adult dealing with a chronic skin condition or just someone who wants to love their skin more, Apex customizes a treatment plan for each patient’s unique needs.
Apex also is a leader in skin cancer management and treatment. Dr. Garcia specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery and has cured more than 20,000 skin cancers to date.
