As we ease into the age of ultra-convenience, practically anything can be delivered to your doorstep at your every whim, from dinner to household products, cars, boats—the list is endless.

But did you know that now you can have a complete flooring showroom come to your door? That’s the premise of Floor Coverings International, owned and operated by Shelly and Joe Sekki, and people are loving it.

A trained salesperson arrives at your home in their mobile showroom van, which holds more than 3,000 flooring samples.

Case in point: Pictured above are Connie G. of Cleveland and her impossibly adorable boys, ages one-and-a-half and three years. In addition to the two non-stop toddlers, rounding out the household are two cats, a dog and two very tired parents who both work full time.

“I’ve been putting off new flooring for our home as I just didn’t think I had the time or the energy,” she says. “The idea of lugging my sons around, since both are really active right now, and taking them to a showroom while trying to focus on samples, made me think it wasn’t a possibility.”

She was starting to put off the whole thing until they were in school, but then she heard about Floor Coverings International.

“I would be able to sit down and go over styles and samples while my guys were napping and dinner was in the oven,” she says. “It was a game-changer, making what seemed like a faraway dream a reality. I thought to myself, ‘Wait a minute, I can do this.’”

Indestructible
For happy client Jan R. of Lyndhurst, an in-depth consultation from Mark at Floor Coverings International spurred she and her husband Greg to do an about-face.

“We thought we wanted to replace cream-colored carpeting in our sitting room with dark woods, but Mark gently urged us to think about lighter colored laminate flooring, which is pretty indestructible. As soon as we saw the sample that mixes beiges and pale grays, we knew it was right,” she says. “When we saw the samples in the room, the one we picked made our darker cherry wood furniture pop.”

She said he educated them about the features and benefits of many different brands.

“Since we have grandchildren, we went with a water-resistant option,” she says. “Mark was so trustworthy and personable throughout the process. It was a five-star experience.”

Vinyl Tile Showing No Signs of Stopping
Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) has grown by 60 percent over the past year alone, and the growth shows no signs of stopping, reports Joe.

“LVT checks all the boxes,” he says. “It authentically mimics the looks of wood planks or high-end tile yet provides extreme durability.”

Shelly says gray is still the predominant color of choice, but unstained pale wood looks are trending. “Styles with a rustic feel are our biggest sellers,” she adds.

And the new options for carpeting are as water-resistant and durable as hard surface flooring.

Shelly says that early to mid-October is their busiest time of the year, since people want to spruce up their homes in time for the holidays. She suggests making the call now or soon to be sure you are on their busy schedule.
