For anyone who has ever thought of transforming their yard into a resort-like oasis, Candyapple Nursery and Landscaping has you covered.

“We like to think of ourselves as the ultimate one-stop shop for turning people’s backyard dreams into realities,” says General Manager Gary Frantz.

With more than 40 years of experience, the company specializes in pool installation, landscaping design and services, patio installation, fire pits and fireplaces, exterior lighting, sheds and barns, outdoor furniture, new lawns, pond installation, tree trimming and removal, lawn mowing, mulch and top soil, fertilization and snow removal.

C’mon, Take the Plunge
As an exclusive dealer and certified installer of Imagine Pools, one of the largest manufacturers in the world of fiberglass pools, the folks at Candyapple can build whatever shape and style best fits your needs, whether it’s a 16-foot kidney-shaped plunge pool for cooling off, to a 40-foot-long rectangular pool with a deep end for diving, a relaxing built-in spa or even a single-lane continuous current pool for lap swimmers.

“Since we’ve installed pools across Northeast Ohio, we can make recommendations to customers on what will fit best in their backyard,” he says.

One of the hottest trends in pool design is the splash pad, that allows ample space and just a few inches of water at a shallow end for younger tots to splash around in, and parents to join them.

“Our cutting-edge pools are gel-coated in a shimmery range of beachy shades, from coral blue to storm grey and reef blue,” says Gary.

“As one of the best-made pools, thanks to the unique core construction, with steely structural strength and corrosion-resistant properties, our models come with a lifetime warranty.”

“We realize a pool is a big investment for people—with an above-ground model starting at $15,700 and in-ground starting at $20,000—and that’s why we often put a plan in place to take it in steps, installing the pool one year, then building a surrounding deck and paver patio the next year, then installing an outdoor kitchen and bar the next year, and so on,” says Gary.

“We also offer a range of financing options that will have you doing backflips in your own pool this year, with a doable down-payment.”

Keeping You Green (and Yellow, Blue, Purple, Orange, Pink...)
“Customers like to come in to the nursery to see our ample selection of locally grown trees, shrubs and roses, in both classic and exotic species, that will thrive in our zone,” says Gary.

“Our knowledge and expertise in landscaping helps our people work directly with customers, pointing them in the best direction.”

Gary says when they design new landscaping or refurbish existing beds, they always custom-create the final look matched to the customer, selecting their favorite colors, shapes, etc., and make sure they combine trees, shrubs and perennials that will bloom in spring, summer and fall.

“I like to get a feeling for people’s style by what’s in their home,” says Gary.

“For instance, if someone has a modern home and interior, we opt for crisp, uniform lines and boxy hedges. With rustic or Victorian decor, we establish a free-flowing perimeter with more traditional and romantic flowering shrubs, such as hydrangea.”

He also mentions they are meticulously detail oriented and select trees and shrubs that complement a home rather than distract from it.

“When the job is done, our people knock on the client’s door and do a walk-through to make sure they love the final look,” says Gary.

To fulfill all of your storage and recreational yard needs, they also offer Amish-made Yoder barns, as well as a full line of outdoor furniture, including chairs, tables, swings, gliders and more.

The Art of Pruning
Hans Stevens, who founded Candyapple 10 years ago, grew up on an apple farm in western New York and studied agriculture at the Cornell University Coop Extension. His keen sensibility as a master pruner has beautified landscapes for countless residential and commercial customers.

“Annual pruning and trimming can add years of life and vitality to your trees,” says Hans. “I can make directional cuts within the root system to save a tree from growing into a sidewalk, and also score the bark to promote new growth.”

Within the headquarters on South Court Street, customers are also delighted to discover the Candyapple Boutique, which is run by Hans’ wife, Debbie. Her gourmet hand-dipped caramel and chocolate-covered apples come in a tantalizing variety of delectable flavors, from Butterfinger to Cookie Dough, Cinnamon Bun and the crowd favorite, Pop Rocks.

The charming boutique also features jewelry, skin care, personalized letter artwork and candles.
