Chronic pain is persistent and even debilitating for many people. Over 50 million Americans suffer from some type of lasting pain.

From back and knee problems to frequent headaches, pain treatment is the number one cause of healthcare expenses, lost productivity, reduced income, lower school attendance and diminished quality of life. Chronic pain is, well, a pain.

Although there are multiple treatment options available, many people are looking for non-narcotic, natural solutions to ease their pain.

The team at Eastside Medical Group (EMG) includes physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists who treat pain, whether it be injury related, post-surgical rehabilitation, or the result of a chronic health condition.

“We are one of six Northeast Ohio locations of Ohio Therapy and Rehabilitation Centers,” says Dr. Lauchlin McKeigan, chiropractic physician.

“Our medical director at EMG is Dr. Jane Hoashi, an orthopedic physician. She, along with our chiropractic physicians, a family nurse practitioner, licensed massage therapists and assistants, work together to prepare a treatment plan to meet each patient’s individual needs.”

EMG is one of only a few clinics in Ohio offering regenerative therapy, the latest treatment in pain management. For people suffering from osteoarthritis and chronic musculoskeletal pain, treatments have been limited to steroid or hyaluronic acid injections, joint replacement surgery and physical therapy.

While injections such as cortisone provide only temporary relief from pain, regenerative therapy injections actually restore degenerated tissue to repair the damage, producing long-lasting effects. Often a one-time treatment is enough to be pain free.

“The repair process begins right on injection,” says Nurse Practitioner Jessica Gross.

“Improvement continues over time, with increased mobility and range of motion. Our patients report rapid pain relief and, upon completing treatment, often walk out of the office without restrictions.”

“At EMG, we offer three types of regenerative therapy treatments,” shares Jessica.

“One treatment uses more then 200 growth factors, while the other two use naturally occurring components from the patient’s own blood. Regenerative therapy is not only natural, it’s safe, gentle and offers fast pain relief.

“After a patient receives injections, if necessary, we incorporate exercises and rehabilitation,” says Dr. McKeigan, chiropractic physician.

Along with regenerative therapy, treatments include other non-surgical options such as alternative injections, lifestyle changes, therapies and bracing.

“For the first time in 30 years I’m pain free. I’m not afraid to take my next step,” says an 84-year-old patient, after undergoing various therapy treatments at EMG.

“After an initial consult with a new patient and an extensive review of all necessary test results, our staff confers on how best to approach treatment,” says Jessica. “Our goal is for our patients to avoid narcotics that not only tend to mask the pain but also come with the danger of addiction.”

The EMG offices in Shaker Square are bright, expansive and welcoming. EMG offers state-of-the-art therapy equipment and services for patients of every age.

“Everyone’s pain is different. It needs to be approached individually and that’s what we do here,” says Jessica. “Our goal is to find the best solution for each patient.”
