The secret to living pain free
By Beth Newcomb
When Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877, it was such an unexpected surprise to the general public that many considered it to be an almost magical device. His phonograph, which originally recorded sound on tinfoil around a grooved cylinder, opened the world up to communication in a way nothing had before, and created a platform on which he built his legacy as America’s greatest inventor.
At Nightingale Centers for Regenerative Medicine, Drs. Matthew Evenhouse and Chris Manacci are also pioneers. They’ve made it their mission to help people regain function and eliminate pain from their lives in a way that, like Edison’s phonograph, might almost seem magical.
No, they didn’t invent stem cell therapy, but they did recognize its remarkable ability to change people’s lives in a way that nothing else really can. That’s why they’ve devoted their practice to offering this wave-of-the-future treatment to people living with pain. It replaces traditional medical standards like pills, chiropractic care and surgery. And to those who’ve already visited their Westlake-based clinic in search of relief, these two have become the area’s greatest doctors.
“Stem cell therapy is a game changer. And while mainstream medicine has yet to fully embrace the technology of stem cell injections, the results our patients experience are very real,” Dr. Matt says. “Our treatments reduce people’s dependence on hospitals, surgery, and medications and promise a quicker and simpler way to return to an active life. Imagine the lives and millions of dollars that will be available for other things when the healthcare system fully embraces these treatments. The pain, potential complications and limitations of the old ways will become a thing of the past.”
“We’re focused on independence, not dependence,” adds Dr. Chris. “Our goal is to never have to see a patient again because he or she is too busy being active and loving life again. We are not a pain management clinic. We’re a mobility clinic, and mobility is the key to health.”
Stem Cell Therapy Explained
Stem cells are harvested from umbilical cord blood and they are miraculous in that they contain everything necessary to build a human. Yet they remain somewhat of a mystery because we don’t actually know what it is about them that stimulates the body to heal itself. Because stem cells activate the process for healing injured tissue, they jumpstart the recovery process.
At Nightingale, Drs. Chris and Matt use stem cells in conjunction with other therapies to permanently alleviate joint pain. “If you’ve been told you need surgery, the best advice I can give you is to try stem cell therapy first,” Dr. Chris says. “Compared to the $38,000-$50,000 cost for joint replacement surgery, not to mention the pain and months of downtime along with the risks and rehab, the cost for stem cell therapy is a bargain. And you don’t have to wait until your pain gets bad enough to necessitate a joint replacement. You can do it right now and become pain free quickly. Some people even walk out of our office feeling remarkably better.”
“Our goal is to change the conversation regarding the treatment of pain and joint replacement by offering a preventative and proactive solution versus reactive,” Dr. Matt adds.
And in addition to utilizing stem cells for pain, the doctors have also been successful in helping women to reduce stress incontinence. “It’s been very effective for women who have had problems with urine leakage associated with activity, coughing or sneezing,” he says.
Dry Needling and Neurostimulation
Offered as an additional treatment layer, dry needling helps people to release pain in their muscles.
“Because the muscles in the body are connected, when one stops working the others take over to help function continue,” Dr. Chris says. “The problem is when this happens, the way you move is changed and pain becomes your companion. And because your movement is restricted, your ability to function is also limited.”
Dry needling, he continues, is a technique that helps muscles to loosen up and begin to work together again. Tiny needles and low-level electrical current stimulate and release trigger points in muscles and connective tissue. As a result, blood flow is increased, pain is released and mobility is improved. Used in conjunction with physical therapy, dry needling accelerates the rehabilitation process so you can become pain free—fast.
Neurostimulation retrains the body to control pain naturally, in just two to three sessions.
No More Pain
“We get our patients very quickly to a point of freedom from pain that nobody else has been able to accomplish,” Dr. Matt says. “In fact, one of our patients was considering a hip replacement, but after one stem cell injection is now functioning properly, is traveling the world and is living her best life again.”
Patient Lou Oliveri has this to say, “I am living proof of what these great doctors can do. I had excruciating pain in my hips and legs for over three years. I went to an orthopedic doctor and the only thing I was told was that I needed a hip replacement. I said, ‘no way.’ I went to Nightingale and after the consultation did the neurostimulation, dry needling and stem cell injections in both hips. I have not had any pain in my hips since that day. If you are like I was, you owe it to yourself to go for a consultation. You have everything to gain. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Chris and Dr. Matt. They truly care about their patients above all else.”
Nightingale Centers for Regenerative Medicine is located within the Gemini Building at 1991 Crocker Road, Suite 500, in Westlake.
