A new season is upon us, and in the coming months, as you flip through the channels, you’re bound to see “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” pop up. When you do, maybe you’ll see a bit of yourself in Clark Griswold, the well-intentioned everyman determined to make the most of his family’s time together, especially if you’re wistfully dreaming of a backyard oasis.

Across Northeast Ohio, Williams Landscaping & Pavers Owner Brian Williams and his crew have set the stage for outdoor living for over 20 years. Their new free guide helps turn dreams into reality. The “Big & Bold Outdoor Living Project Guide” is an easy-to-read primer available at WilliamsLandscaping.org.

It’s prime time to start planning your new outdoor living project.

Whether you’re a seasoned outdoor living enthusiast or just starting to step out, the “Big & Bold Outdoor Living Project Guide” is an indispensable resource.

“With any construction project, it’s worthwhile to have as much information as possible before you begin the process,” says Brian. “The guide helps you make the best decisions and understand what you can expect. Whether you’re looking to do a full backyard makeover, a small update, or you’re somewhere in between, it helps to have some ideas regarding trends, possibilities, and planning considerations.”

Even if you’ve been down this road before, the guide provides a simple rundown of everything you’ll need to do to protect your investment and ensure your outdoor living space is ready next season.

The “Big & Bold Outdoor Living Project Guide” is available at WilliamsLandscaping.org.

But, if you’ve only ever dreamed of having an outdoor living space, now is the time to start planning. Spring and summer for Williams Landscaping, like all contractors, fills up fast.

You want to start with the basics and think about colors, shapes, textures, borders, accents, and patterns. The “Big & Bold Outdoor Living Project Guide” brings it all together.

“It should be your oasis,” says Brian. “The materials, the textures and the colors get you to that state of mind. Everything needs to work in harmony.”

The guide lays out a four-phased timeline:

  1. Project Planning
  2. Contractor Selection
  3. Installation
  4. After the Installation

In phase one, the guide suggests you take four to six weeks to consider how you will use your space and your budget. That’s also when you’ll want to start exploring colors and styles.

After you have some idea of what you want, you’re ready to move on to phase two. The shortest phase, two or three weeks, is a critical part of the process that you can’t overlook. When you’re considering contractors, in addition to looking over credentials, references, portfolios, and renderings of your particular project, you want to make sure they can provide proof of insurance. Contractors should have at least a one-year warranty, if not the five-year warranty that backs Williams Landscaping’s work.

“If you hire the wrong person and they rush through the planning process, you’re not going to be happy with the result,” says Brian. “Now and over the winter, time is on our side to deliver a design that’s everything you envisioned in a way that’s practical and functional.”

Work begins in phase three, which can last anywhere from two to twelve weeks, depending on the scope of the work. In phase four, you’re living the dream.

Whether or not you decide to go with Williams Landscaping, outdoor living starts with the “Big & Bold Outdoor Living Project Guide” and ends with you making the most of your family’s time together.
