The 2019 Lake County YMCA Dream House is a celebration of farmhouse style and boasts high-tech amenities along with family-friendly appeal.

Made wildly popular by Chip & Joanna Gaines’ HGTV show Fixer Upper, the modern farmhouse style puts a fresh spin on rustic elements and natural materials.

This summer, the 26th annual Lake County YMCA Dream House is a spirited celebration of that style.

Set to open for tours late next month, the project is the result of a talented dream team of interior designers. Recently they met to unveil their design boards and take us behind closed doors for a sneak peek.

Designed and constructed by ProBuilt Homes, the 3,400-square-foot, two-story home is a reflection of on-trend design innovation.

Here are a few of the “wow” ideas:

  • The STEAM room is a haven for budding scientists and artists looking to collaborate on science/technology/engineering/art/math. It’s experiment-proof with indestructible counters, workstations and pegboard walls to present patent-worthy projects.
  • Children looking for an adventure can escape to their own hideaway gaming room, complete with a faux custom-built lighthouse serving as entryway.
  • What does any modern family need in their theater room? How about a smoothie bar with fruit-filled wire baskets on the wall?

Taking a tour of the Dream House is also a nice way to keep your charitable dollars in the local community.

Says Dick Bennett, CEO and executive director of the Lake County YMCA, “This project raises critical funds to allow us to meet our mission. Our Y is making a significant impact in the lives of countless individuals we serve in our communities.”

The Lake County YMCA Dream House is located at 36470 Maplegrove Road in the new Maple Valley development of Willoughby Hills. Doors open for tours Saturday, June 29, and run through Sunday, August 4. There is also a separate drawing for a 2019 Chevy Camaro provided by Northeast Ohio Chevy Dealer and Classic Chevrolet in Mentor.
