As we head into fall, we often remind ourselves that though our tans will fade our summertime memories will last forever. Unfortunately, damaged skin from prolonged sun exposure also stays with us.

“Sun damage can take a toll on the skin and underlying connective tissue, leaving you with fine lines and wrinkles,” says Kelly Roberts, a certified nurse practitioner at Skin Care Solutions Elite MediSpa. “Along with fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, hyperpigmentation and redness can appear, making a person look older than they are.”

To combat months—and years—of sun damage, SCS Elite MediSpa features physician-directed cosmetic services, such as laser treatments, microneedling, advanced facials, chemical peels and exfoliating treatments like microdermabrasion and dermaplaning.

With locations in Wooster, Medina, and the Green/Akron area, the medical spa is expanding its staff this month by welcoming back Kelly, who worked in urology and gynecology earlier this year before returning to the MediSpa to focus on aesthetics. Passionate about skincare, Kelly specializes in laser treatments and injectables that give patients vibrant, healthier and more youthful-looking skin.

Working alongside Dr. Dana Bonezzi, Dr. Debra Fast and Dr. Kathleen Fearon, Kelly consults with each patient to discuss treatment plans and provide options.

One of the most innovative services is an IPL Photofacial, which reverses sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and improves other skin conditions including acne scarring.

“The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser gently lightens sun spots, smooths blotchy skin, and helps tighten skin while improving the tone and texture,” says Kelly. “With the laser, I can see instant results while I am doing the treatment because it darkens any redness or dark spots and then within a week they slough off, so I can see how clear the skin will look.”

“My goal is to achieve natural-looking results that make you look refreshed,” comments Kelly. “And, by doing so, you will feel younger and more vibrant.”

Also new on staff is Teresa Price, an aesthetician who owned her own spa in Dover for three years before joining SCS Elite MediSpa in July.

“I got interested in skincare because I always liked getting facials,” says Teresa. “And when I was pregnant I got melasma, a pigmentation disorder. It made me want to help other people. It makes a huge difference in someone’s life when they feel beautiful.”

The MediSpa offers medical-grade facials that are more corrective. These facials penetrate into the lower levels of your skin to actually change your cellular structure and get real results.

Dermaplaning is one of the most popular treatment offerings at SCS Elite MediSpa.

“In addition to facials and chemical peels, dermaplaning is one of our most popular treatments,” says Teresa. “This non-invasive treatment removes the top layer of dead skin and vellus hair (peach fuzz), providing a smoother surface for better product penetration and makeup application, and it also minimizes pore size.”

“Perfect for fall, our skincare treatments can help reverse damage from prolonged sun exposure,” she says.
