Although it may seem impossible to find a silver lining in the cloud that has been the pandemic, Sandra Jenkins, owner of Dog Gone Crazy, in Medina, says there is most certainly a big one.

“Pet adoptions shot up as more people welcomed into their homes a furry companion to keep them company during the stress of isolation,” she notes. “It gave them a reason to get out and walk, and it provided something to focus on.”

These new pandemic pets have now gotten used to their people being at home. But with the return of kids to school full time and many parents heading back to the office, the new family members are likely experiencing separation anxiety.

“After having owners around 24/7, it can be stressful for a dog to have its person leave for eight or more hours,” Sandra notes. “The lack of socialization and need to potty only complicate the situation.”

Pets who stay at Dog Gone Crazy get two playtimes a day, their own private suite, treats and lots of love. Enrichment options include a walk through the six-and-a-half acres of trails or additional playtimes.

To meet the new demand for pets that require care during the day, Dog Gone Crazy has expanded its doggy daycare program. “We’re getting up to six new dogs a day in our daycare,” she smiles. “People heading back into the office for work, whether every day or just a few days a week, need a care option that’s flexible, safe, and supports their pet’s need for companionship.”

Sandra says it doesn’t matter how old your dog is, even if it’s a puppy still in training, it’s welcome at the Dog Gone Crazy daycare.

“Pets in our care get two playtimes a day, their own private suite, treats and lots of love,” she says. “We offer enrichment options like a walk through our six-and-a-half acres of trails or additional playtimes. There’s a lot of flexibility.”

At Dog Gone Crazy, discounts are offered for stays over 10 days as well as for families with multiple pets, seniors, military personnel and service personnel.

And in addition to the attentive care, the price is right. Daycare is just $16 a day for three or more days, or $18 a day for less than three days. Boarding starts at just $29 a day. And whether visiting for the day or a few nights, your pet can be treated to on-site grooming with an added bonus for you.

“Our grooming clients get a free day of care included in every visit,” she says. “If you drop your dog off in the morning and can’t pick it up until after work, it gets to play the day away here at no extra charge.”

Seasoned groomer Tiffany Charek assures she’s really patient, so the grooming experience at Dog Gone Crazy is a relaxing one for your pup.

Travel Shift
“We’re seeing an increase in the number of people planning trips for the spring and summer,” Sandra says. “Our popularity means we fill up quickly, so planning ahead is a must.”

In fact, so many people recognize the fact that exceptional pet care offered at an affordable price isn’t so easy to come by that Dog Gone Crazy is regularly sold out during peak times of the year.

In fact, so many people recognize the fact that exceptional pet care offered at an affordable price isn’t so easy to come by that Dog Gone Crazy is regularly sold out during peak times of the year. “This spring and summer, road trips are going to be popular. Traveling with a pet in the car for long distances is not only stressful for everyone, including the pet, it can be unsafe. The best idea is to treat your pet to a relaxing stay with us while you enjoy quality time away,” she says.

Exceptional Service
Dog Gone Crazy is generously staffed, allowing for undivided attention for each pet. In fact, throughout the day and into the night, the members of the team, under Sandra’s guidance, are always on-site. Bedding is changed and laundry is done every day. “I tell people to visit five different kennels before they make their decision about where to board,” she says. “They always come back here. Part of the reason I started in this business is that I wanted people to have a quality place to leave their pets. I know how hard that is to come by.”

In addition to the large Dog Gone Crazy boarding and daycare facility, a professional grooming department is also housed on the spacious property. Pictured is professional Groomer Tiffany Charek with a furry friend.

“We specialize in individual care,” adds Sandra. “No two dogs are alike and no two dogs can be cared for exactly alike. Maybe your dog gets a treat after he or she goes potty, or maybe it needs a long hike to work out some of its energy. We can provide that.”

Sandra and her team warmly invite those interested in touring to visit anytime of the day. Appointments are never necessary. It’s important to note, however, that vaccines are required prior to your pet’s stay. Those include distemper, bordetella, rabies and lepto. Discounts are offered for stays over 10 days as well as for families with multiple pets.
