Put a Medicare plan in place

Although the enrollment period for current Medicare participants has officially come to an end, people rounding the corner to age 65 can enroll throughout the year. In fact, if 65 is on the horizon for you in the coming months, now is a perfect time to sit down with me to discuss your options.

New 65s have a seven-month enrollment period, three months before their birth month, their birth month, and then three months after their birth month, to enroll in Medicare. Most people need to apply for Medicare through Social Security.

Even if your 65th birthday is a year or so away, it’s always a good idea to get your ducks in a row ahead of time. Arming yourself with a good understanding of how Medicare works will make the process of enrollment, effortless when the time comes.

Some people think retirement isn’t doable because the cost of health insurance will take too big a bite out of their finances. That may not be the truth.
