In a symphony of seamless collaboration, the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals at Precision Orthopaedic Specialties offers one of the most comprehensive lists of services in the area.

From toddlers to teens to seniors, professional athletes to weekend warriors, the practice includes orthopaedic surgeons, non-operative sports medicine physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers. The group collaborates to treat the musculoskeletal system via a progressive spectrum of surgical and non-surgical methods.

“We strive to make the evaluation and treatment process as convenient as possible for our patients. We have incorporated the latest technology in multiple areas, including X-ray, MRI, and physical therapy into our locations in Chardon, Auburn, Middlefield and Beachwood,” says Dr. Gregory Sarkisian, president of the practice. “We do it all right here under one roof. Our patients do not need to drive all over town to multiple appointments for testing or to see a different specialist.”

According to Chris Herald, who directs the practice, “Over the past 25 years, we’ve always put our patients first, creating ways to make the best level of care easy to obtain. It’s uncommon to find this many quality expert specialists working together under one roof. Patients love the convenience and it has led to continual growth and the need to expand to four locations.”

Team members include President Gregory C. Sarkisian, DO, Vice President Michael J. Kellis, DO; Mark J. Mendeszoon, DPM, Laszlo S. Harmat, DO, Kraig K. Solak, DO, Albert S. M. Dunn, DO, George J. Kellis, MD, Jamie DelVecchio, DO, Brian Filisky, DC, and Brad Picha, MD.

Their specialties range from physical therapy to podiatry, out-patient joint replacement, spine surgery, hand surgery, chiropractic care, hyaluronic acid (HA) joint lubricant injections, natural joint supplements, sports medicine and strength training.

The physicians and staff stay ahead of continual advancements in technology in surgical and treatment procedures, leading the way locally and nationally in their respective fields. For instance, for athletes suffering the effects of a concussion, the group founded the Precision Concussion Institute to assist with concussion diagnosis and management and to help ensure that athletes are safe to return to competition. Chris states that the group is heavily involved with numerous local high schools, donating its time and expertise in support of the athletic programs. “The Concussion Institute is just one of the many tools our physicians and Certified Athletic Trainers use to keep our athletes on the field and safe,” Chris says.

Keeping Patients Safe Through the Pandemic
To keep patients and staff as safe as possible, the group’s response to the coronavirus pandemic has been swift and thorough, meeting and exceeding CDC guidelines.

“All visitors to the building, patients, vendors, and team members, must pass through our check station where we monitor temperatures and symptoms,” Chris explains. “Those with symptoms are not permitted to enter. Patients and all Precision staff must wear masks, and we’ve also reworked our waiting room configurations to maintain six feet of social distancing.”

From a scheduling standpoint, Precision makes appointments for the higher risk patient population first thing in the morning, for the lowest chance of exposure. “Our treatment rooms are sanitized between each patient and our waiting rooms and frequently touched surfaces are cleaned hourly,” he says. “We have even placed air scrubbers in our waiting areas and have each facility professionally cleaned for deep sanitation monthly. We are doing our part to combat this new viral enemy and keep folks safe.”

Telehealth Services are Growing
“We have continued to see patients during the pandemic, but, for many people, telehealth services have been a great fit and just make the most sense with regard to safety,” says Chris. “It can also be an effective way for those who are completing physical therapy to do so at home with proper supervision. It has certainly helped our physicians and physical therapists to remain engaged with each patient’s treatment and progress.”

Dr. Sarkisian states that some patients who were to have undergone elective surgeries when the pandemic hit have had to put those procedures on hold.

“While we wait, we’ve done whatever we can to keep those patients healthy and comfortable—such as gel injections for arthritic joints and physical therapy modalities—until the world gets back on its feet.”
