Bert Brown, MD, knows bigger is not always better.

“It’s good to have a private practice option,” says the otolaryngologist who has been providing comprehensive ear, nose and throat care on the east side of Cleveland for more than three decades. “That’s why I’m so thrilled to now offer that on the west side of town, too.”

Last October, Dr. Brown took over ENT Group of Cleveland and West Shore Hearing Center, giving west siders the opportunity to receive a full spectrum of care for pediatric and adult ENT problems, along with audiology care, in one convenient location.

“My philosophy is to provide very individualized care with easier access to the doctor and more availability,” he says. “Instead of having to go through a big institution with a centralized scheduling service, patients can call us directly. If you’re experiencing a medical or hearing issue, you’ll be able to reach me quickly with your questions.”

Dr. Brown offers diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical care for ear, nose and throat conditions. Among the areas he covers are wax build-up in the ears, ear infections, sinus issues, throat infections, swallowing problems, thyroid maladies and snoring.

He also works closely with audiologist Dr. Louis Billera to diagnose, evaluate and treat hearing loss. The doctors collaborate to formulate an individualized hearing correction plan for each patient.

Dr. Billera also counsels patients on how to safeguard their hearing and improve their listening environment. When appropriate, he fits patients with the best hearing aids for their type of loss, and customizes the hearing aids to the way the wearer interprets sound. This, in turn, allows many folks with hearing loss to enjoy a wider range of sound with more clarity.

“I’ve always had a big audiology component to my practice, and have taken pride in helping people hear better,” Dr. Brown points out. “It’s always better to have a medical doctor and an audiologist working together to provide the best hearing care possible. For patients who need hearing aids, we make sure it’s done at the highest level possible—something no other center on the west side can do.”
