Toggling along in six-inch bubble gum pink suede stilettos may have caused Mimi her share of discomfort in the tootsie department over the years. When she read all of the five-star reviews online about the fabulous patient experience over at Community Foot and Ankle of Mentor, it sounded like it was well worth a visit.

Dr. Robert Rosenstein, who serves as medical director, says when it comes to providing a fresh and beautiful environment for his offices, he thinks like Walt Disney did when he painted different areas of the park every night. Dr. Robert keeps the gorgeous building looking like new, with hardwood floors, soothing colors and vaulted wood-beamed ceilings.

The 7,200-square-foot building houses a physical therapy studio, a spa room with four whirlpool foot baths, rooms designated for laser therapy and 3-D digital X-rays, and a pedicure room.

“We treat the full gamut of foot and ankle conditions, from pediatrics to seniors, including heel pain, bunions, hammer toes, fungus nails, ingrown toenails, flat feet, warts, wounds, sports injuries and diabetic foot care issues such as ulcers,” Dr. Robert says.

Orthotics is also a specialty of the practice, and patients can be fitted here and select from a wide variety of specialty shoes engineered to support feet and improve gait. (Mimi has her eye on a sleek pair of fashion-forward turquoise espadrilles with chunky four-inch heels.)

Although technology takes center stage, Dr. Robert says he still likes to practice medicine by taking the time to listen to patients and get to know them.

He explains that the other doctors in his practice share his vision and came onboard to fill special niches. Dr. Michael Coppers excels in making house calls (yes, you read that correctly) and also visits local senior centers and nursing homes to treat seniors. Dr. Danielle Shaper provides all of the surgery skills and specializes in athletic injuries and diabetic wound care.

“Our goal is to work as partners with our patients,” says Dr. Robert. “We establish foot care protocols with an emphasis on educating the patient and encourage them to take an active role.”
