Thanksgiving is one of the easiest holidays to host in your home, as you don’t have to get creative when planning the menu. Tradition calls for turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and the trimmings. So, it really comes down to finding the freshest turkey and produce to make your meal shine.

That’s where Miles Farmers Market steps in to help.

No need to call the turkey hotline (yes, there really is a toll-free turkey talk line to answer your cooking questions), as Miles’ butchers are here to answer any questions and provide printed cooking instructions with every turkey.

“All of our turkeys are fresh—never frozen—and are free-range and antibiotic-free,” says store manager Justin Golobek. “We source our turkeys from the same farm every year because we believe we have found the best-tasting turkeys.”

“We have all sizes of fresh turkeys available up to 24 pounds,” he adds. “Plus, we will have pre-cooked turkeys and ready-made dinners in our new hot food case if you don’t want to cook your own turkey dinner.”

All handmade using fresh produce, sourced locally whenever possible, the side dishes share center stage with the turkey. The store’s in-house chef oversees the kitchen and cooks everything from scratch, including stocks, soups and gravies.

“In our Bistro, we prepare all of the side dishes you need to trim a turkey, including candied yams, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans almondine and Brussels sprouts, as well as our famous sausage stuffing, which is from our owner’s family recipe collection,” says Justin. “We make the sausage in our own meat department, and we use the bread from our bakery for the ultimate homemade stuffing that is sure to be a signature side at your family’s dinner.”

The side dishes are available in full pan, half pan and smaller containers packed by the pound. “The smaller containers are perfect if you are just having couple people over for Thanksgiving dinner,” says Justin.

And no Thanksgiving dinner is complete without a piece of pie.

“Our bakery department already received 4,000 pie orders in October and we are taking many more this month leading up to Thanksgiving week,” says Justin. “The bakery department works non-stop baking pies that week, so you can pick up your pie Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We don’t bake them in advance because we want them served as fresh as can be.”

Miles Farmers Market has dozens of pie varieties, including traditional pumpkin pie and apple pie, along with some cream pies such as French Silk, Banana Cream and Coconut. Pictured above are the Peach Praline Pecan (left) and the Apple Crisp pies.

“My personal favorite is the Fruit of the Forest pie, which is loaded with apples, rhubarb, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries for a tasty combination,” notes Justin. “But all of them are delicious and everyone has their own favorite.”

It’s not too early to start planning your holiday meals, cautions Justin. Customers are encouraged to place their turkey orders early this year as the food industry has been hampered by ongoing supply chain issues. You can call the store to order your turkey and pies or stop by the meat department or bakery to place your order in person.

“We appreciate how hard our staff always works around the holidays to try to make everyone else’s holiday special,” says Justin. “We take pride in offering the freshest produce and tastiest food all conveniently together in one market for one-stop shopping.”
