Enthusiasm, dedication and grit. These are the attributes that owner and director Leah Gongola, Ph.D., BCBA-D, COBA, loves to see in prospective Proactive Behavior Services team members.

“Our programming is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism and other behavioral needs,” Dr. Gongola says. “Each child’s individual needs are assessed, and the appropriate therapies are utilized to build the appropriate skills.”

Dr. Gongola wants everyone from high school students with an interest in learning more about this sector to those earning a bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, nursing, clinical counseling, social work or other related fields to know that Proactive Behavior Services will provide them with the hands-on experience required.

“Also, those in graduate school for any of the related specialties or those working toward their BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) degrees are required to do a number of field hours and they usually have to pay for them,” Dr. Gongola says. “We are offering this training and experience for free.”

Dr. Gongola stresses that she and her partner, Jennifer Loudon, Ph.D., BCBA-D, COBA, both have extensive experience teaching at the college level and understand the programming involved. They know what college students need to be successful.

“This is a great opportunity for students to network, create connections and establish a foundation for their careers,” Dr. Gongola says. “It’s a personalized approach here where everyone shows up with a smile, ready to change the life of a child.”
