Bringing Indoor Trends Out
It seems that homeowners are looking to transport the comforts of indoor living to their backyards. Over the years, Candyapple has ramped up its offerings to go beyond landscaping to installing hardscaping such as patios, outdoor kitchens, firepits and fireplaces, water features, gazebos, pavilions, pergolas and outdoor lighting, as well as fencing.

“People want to do more than just eat dinner outside,” the Candyapple team says. “They want to watch television on a big screen and do more al fresco cooking and entertaining.”

A Never-Ending Show
To bring spaces to life, the designers work with homeowners to build flower beds, selecting low-maintenance plant materials and even installing lawns. Staggering intermittent bloom cycles, they create yards that look stunning spring, summer and fall.

Unusual combinations and creativity are what really sets them apart from other landscape firms. Each finished yard is its own work of art, totally reflective of the homeowner.

And to keep it looking pristine, they also offer lawn mowing and fertilization services, tree trimming and pruning, as well as irrigation systems, topsoil and mulch.

Several years ago, Candyapple expanded its services by partnering with a well-known pool manufacturer to install in-ground fiberglass pools. They earned quite a reputation for these pools, and demand surged. As of this writing, they have already filled their allotment of pool install availability for 2023. However, you can make an appointment for a consultation to begin planning for your 2024 pool to transform your yard into resort-worthy status.

Nursery Stock vs. Big Box Stock
With an opening date of Saturday, April 1, this year Candyapple Nursery and garden center is expanding its landscaping stock to serve those who are looking to do a little more DIY.

“We’re seeing a trend of people wanting to do their own landscaping, beds and yards and we’re rising to accommodate that,” says the management staff.

As one of the largest nurseries in the area, Candyapple offers a delightful shopping experience for any green or wannabe green thumb and strives to source nursery stock that’s a little different than anywhere else in town. They offer extensive varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, mulch, stone and hanging baskets.

There’s a host of reasons why it makes sense to buy from a local, family-owned operation as opposed to a big box store. Here are a few of them:

• Big box plants and stock are usually transported from faraway states and are not acclimated to the Ohio weather, so they get shocked when they’re unloaded. From a carbon footprint standpoint, it’s also less eco-sensitive to transport stock long distances.
• Candyapple’s plant materials are mostly grown here in Ohio, perfectly perched to thrive in Zone 5, so they perform better.
• Big box plants often come in soil that’s inferior quality. Candyapple makes sure its stock is nourished in enriched soil for a long and lovely life.
• Once plants get to the nursery, they are lovingly cared for by Candyapple’s seasoned staff, who know all about how to make sure plants will thrive while waiting for people to buy them. Oftentimes plants at big box stores are left to wilt on racks out in the sun.

Thoughtful Gifts for Mom
Candyapple Nursery is the ideal place to find the perfect gift your mom will cherish, whether that’s meaningful flowers, a glorious rose bush, or raised planter.

You’ll find a plethora of thoughtful gifts at here.

“Raised beds have become quite popular and any mother would love one,” the Candyapple team says. “You could buy her the bed and seeds or plants to fill it. Oftentimes people mix herbs with flowers for an effect that is as fragrant and edible as it is pretty. Or they rotate in all the ingredients for making their own salsa (tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic, cilantro) or their favorite salads, with mixes of lettuce, carrots, radishes, cucumbers and peppers.”

Raised planters elevate a gardener’s experience. There is far less weeding, and you don’t have to kneel or bend over to harvest your little treasures. The raised height also keeps it away from hungry pests.

Another great gift for mom would be a hanging basket or two in her favorite colors. Don’t miss their hanging basket sale, which kicks off Monday, May 1—just in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14.
