It’s only fitting that when the Mimi Magazine photographers asked The Neighborhood Experts at Platinum Real Estate where they’d like to have their portrait shot, they suggested Squire’s Castle in Willoughby.

Because like the stately Romanesque Revival manor house, the folks behind Platinum Real Estate have a fascinating story to tell.

Whereas Squire’s Castle was built in 1895 of locally quarried stone, Platinum team leaders Mark and Denise Zervos have succeeded in real estate since 1990 by putting together a group of talented local professionals.

They are both institutions that have stood the test of time.

Denise says that although people often think when the weather chills out that the real estate market slows to a halt, that’s actually a myth.

“Heading into winter, a few conditions persist, such as low interest rates and not enough homes on the market,” she explains.

“And fewer homes on market means less competition for your home, which, at the end of the day, could translate into sellers commanding a higher price. Another factor that’s helpful for home sellers is that home buyers are more serious this time of year. Our professionals are busy all winter long.”
