For anyone just going through the motions, slogging along on a treadmill while watching television and wondering why nothing is changing with their fitness level, Erin Mellinger and her staff at Fitness Together are officially serving you with a wakeup call.

“We train people intensely, performing complex moves that engage many different muscles to produce the best results,” she says.

“Our philosophy of ‘knowledge is power’ makes us unique. During an initial consultation, we evaluate each person’s fitness level and map out goals customized to that client. Then throughout training, we check back to make sure we’re making progress. There is accountability and lots of friendly support every step along the way.”

Reset the Scale, Lose Inches
Amy M. of Medina joined Fitness Together in January. As a busy 30-something mom to two adorable daughters, ages four and six, who works full-time, she says she hadn’t really put the focus on her fitness.

“I was shocked at the number on the scale when I weighed in,” she says. “I hadn’t realized how out of shape I’d become. Working with the awesome trainers at Fitness Together, we planned my goals around getting the body I had before having my daughters back.”

Though it’s only been three months, Amy is proud to report she’s already lost 10 pounds.

“But my focus has changed from just losing weight,” she says.

“I’ve lost inches from everywhere—arms, waist, hips and legs. And that’s what makes the difference. All of my clothes look totally different on me. I have muscle tone and increased energy. Working with different trainers, I also appreciate how flexible they are, allowing me to squeeze in two early mornings and one evening session per week.”

According to Cailin Fairbairn, manager of the studio, “Amy is our star student. We enjoy celebrating milestones with her. And I think having a blast during our sessions provides ‘me time’ for her.”

Changing Your Relationship with Food
Personal training was only part of the equation. Amy also rethought the foods she ate through the Nutrition Together program.

“Amy was already excellent at meal planning and prepping,” says certified nutritionist Kalie Kling, who counseled her during the six-week program.

“She just needed to take a good look at her daily meals and snacks. Journaling intake via a food tracker app, My Fitness Pal, allowed both of us to examine everything she ate.”

In the end, Amy says the caring support from everyone at Fitness Together, from training to nutrition, has made her feel more accountable and more in control of her health.

In addition to one-on-one personal training, the studio also conducts small-group training for two to three clients at a time.

“Having a spouse, or a bestie, train with you can really motivate you to push yourself,” says Cailin.
