Finding the right Medicare plan

Over the next few months, we’re going to be exploring the top 10 Medicare questions I get asked and unpacking them one by one. This month the question is: How do I know which Medicare coverage plan is right for me?

The best way to know if you have the right Medicare coverage is to schedule a review with me—and it won’t cost you a thing. Everyone’s situation is different, even if you have a spouse on Medicare. It’s important to consider your individual circumstances.

We’ll go over the cost for different plans, and which medications and doctors are covered. Different plans have different formularies. Co-pays will be different and deductibles will be different. One plan may be better for you because of the medications it covers. Another plan may cover your medications but have a higher deductible or co-pay. There are so many different options, and together we’ll dig in to find the best plan for you.

Even if you and a friend take the same medications, you might not be in the same plan. In Cuyahoga County alone, there are 43 Medicare Advantage plans and 26 stand-alone plans. Oh, and don’t forget about the prescription drug supplement plan that just covers medications.

Coverage options aren’t just black and white. There is a lot of grey area to consider in between. My goal is to get you the most coverage for the least amount of money.
