What Are NovaThreads?
NovaThreads are synthetic, absorbable suture threads typically used in open heart surgery because they are one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.

The threads are placed under the skin parallel to the surface of the skin above. Once in place, the threads create a “selective inflammatory response,” similar to fractional laser and microneedling.

“Our skin is very good at repairing itself,” Dr. McDaniel says. “And by inserting NovaThreads your skin begins to ‘heal’ itself by creating new collagen, naturally.”

Once placed, your skin fully absorbs the thread within four to six months. But while it’s there, your skin is also repairing itself around it.

How It Works
A beautiful, healthy face has a natural V-shape, but with the aging of tissues and the action of gravity, our cheeks sag and this V-shape diminishes. The idea behind the NovaMesh and the NovaLyft techniques is to create a “scaffolding” to support the tissues and keep them in the V-shape, or—where necessary—to lift the tissues and reposition the skin to recreate the V-shape.

“We use NovaLyft to produce a more dramatic and immediate result,” Dr. McDaniel says. “The threads feature tiny cogs that provide a grip underneath the skin and create instant skin repositioning. The skin will then build new collagen which will secure the lift.

The other procedure, NovaMesh, creates a mesh under the skin—two threads inserted vertically and three threads horizontally, sort of like a hashtag or a net.

“The mesh serves as the foundation for new collagen production, tightening skin naturally from within,” Dr. McDaniel explains. “Results appear natural, without any drastic change.”

Firming Up The Neck and Jawline
Traditionally, Botox is used to reduce lines and wrinkles in the forehead area, while fillers are effective at improving the appearance of skin around the eyes and upper checks.

Now, NovaThreads can improve the appearance of the jawline and neck without invasive surgery.

Why We Like It
NovaThreads are a less radical and less costly approach to the restoration of a youthful facial appearance compared to plastic surgery. The treatment can be performed in as little time as it takes to break away from the office for lunch. There is minimal discomfort and virtually no downtime.
