Geauga County residents craving upscale American cuisine in an unpretentious neighborhood spot will not have to travel far. Brewsters Chesterland opened recently, and, chances are, their friends in surrounding communities will be clamoring to join them at the Mayfield Road eatery.

The 9,000-square-foot space, formerly occupied by Danny Boys, is the latest venture of Scott Rafuse and follows in the tradition of his popular restaurants, Brewsters Twinsburg and Glenwillow Grille. Like those venerable establishments, Brewsters Chesterland features locally-sourced ingredients, local craft beers, an extensive array of bourbon, an ample wine list and creative cocktails.

“There’s something for everyone,” notes Scott of the family-run business that includes his wife, Paula, and new partners, son Colin, son-in-law Kris and “adopted son” James. “We pride ourselves on being friendly and eclectic. You’ll feel comfortable coming in for a special date night, or just stopping in to meet up with friends.”

The wide-ranging menu includes—among other things—special brisket-blend burgers, center-cut twin beef filets, daily soup and chili offerings, large salads, Shetland Islands organic black pearl salmon, ramaki, calamari, stuffed Hungarian banana peppers, a complete line of flatbreads and pasta dishes.

Delivery options and carry-out will soon be available.

Brewsters' Signature Burger

Scott personalized the space through extensive renovations. Walls now sport the signature colors of Brewsters Twinsburg and Glenwillow Grille. A formerly red exposed pipe over the long, 40-seat bar is now a decidedly sleeker black. The multidimensional restaurant features garage doors opening to a patio, as well as interior areas of exposed brick, hardwood floors and carpeted dining rooms. The latter is perfect for quieter private events. Some 20 flat screen TVs are installed throughout the restaurant’s many rooms and over the expansive bar.

Because of its configuration, Brewsters Chesterland is an ideal place for grabbing a beer and watching a game on TV, enjoying a juicy burger or a heartier entrée, listening to live music, or hosting private events. Private areas of the restaurant are available for banquets, birthday parties, baby or wedding showers, rehearsal dinners, class reunions and meetings. Audiovisual equipment is available for presentations.

“We have built a strong reputation for catering and hosting private events,” Scott says. “If you have enough guests, we’ll even close the whole restaurant for your private event.”

The willingness to do anything to enhance a customer’s experience is not reserved solely for large groups. The staff is eager to go the extra mile for all guests. When customers request a specific brand of liquor not normally stocked, Scott has been known to buy that bottle for the bar as long as the customer promises to return and order it.

His generosity also extends to the community. His restaurants support local organizations and sports teams.

Scott is grateful for customer loyalty at Brewsters Twinsburg and Glenwillow Grille, and he is confident that allegiance will extend to Brewsters Chesterland.

Brewsters' Famous Ribs

“Our restaurants have become points of destination, not just a place for people to satisfy their hunger,” he says.

“Our food is good, in my humble opinion. But it’s the personalities of the different locations—that warm, inviting, and comfortable feeling—that keep people coming back.”
