Look up. Look down. Look out back. And don’t forget to look out front.

That is the advice Kaye Construction gives homeowners who want to add more space to their living quarters.

“The possibilities are endless when renovating a home,” says Joe Kaye, who, along with his brother, Josh, and father, Ron, owns Kaye Construction.

“We can build a room addition, add a second story, finish your basement, build a backyard deck or create a front porch.”

“When renovating and expanding their home, most people look out back, but we can expand living space out front, too,” he adds. “We can add a porch for homeowners to relax on, read a book or socialize with neighbors.”

The locally owned, family-run business recently built an 8-by-20 front porch for a Columbia Station homeowner, complete with a new shingled roof and composite decking.

No job is too big or too small for Kaye Construction. The team can build a room addition, add a second story, finish your basement, build a backyard deck or create a front porch (like the recent project pictured above).

“Composite decking gives you more color options than traditional wood,” says Joe. “This homeowner picked a dark blue decking contrasted by white columns and railings that really make it pop.”

Working with its in-house architect, Kaye Construction offers homeowners a myriad of options.

No job is too big or too small for Kaye Construction. The team has built everything from a small, 100-square-foot bathroom addition on a limited lot size in Lakewood to an expansive, 2,800-square-foot, two-story addition in Columbia Station, to adding a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor for an elderly couple in Berea so they could age in place.

“While building an addition is the best way to add square footage to a home, there are other creative ways we can add functional space,” says Joe. “If you don’t have room to expand your home’s footprint, remodeling your existing space can still breathe new life into your home and increase its functionality by taking down walls and changing the flow to create more of an open concept.”

“It’s all in the details,” says Ron. “Little touches, like installing backsplash tiles in your bathroom in the shape of water drops can create a spa-like feel, just like building a porch with room for rocking chairs makes a relaxing space.”

“Our mission is to help homeowners renovate their homes so they can stay in the neighborhood and school system they love,” adds Josh.

Kitchen & Bathroom Remodels
Even though most homeowners remodel their home so they can enjoy it more, Joe says people should also consider projects that have the biggest return on investment.

Kitchens and bathrooms top the list for getting the biggest bang for the buck when it comes to resale value.

Remodeling your existing space can breathe new life into your home and increase its functionality by taking down walls and changing the flow to create more of an open concept.

“From building islands to installing new cabinets, we can overhaul your kitchen and make room for everything you need,” says Joe. “We offer homeowners an affordable option for custom building using high-end cabinets and countertops.”

Oftentimes remodeling projects involve relocating the sink and stove for a better workflow in the kitchen, as well as reconfiguring bathrooms to add bigger walk-in showers.

In addition to kitchens and bathrooms, the company also can spruce up your home’s exterior.

“To complement our room renovations, we also install roofing, siding and windows, as well as build decks,” says Joe.

The Bearded Trio

“You will find the three of us working together on every project,” says Joe.

“Unlike bigger home improvement companies where you never meet the owners, we oversee each job personally and work side by side. Working directly with the homeowner is a primary part of our business model. You will see one of us working on the job every day.”

Insurance Specialists
If you have had damage to your home that requires renovation—whether from fire, water or storms—Kaye Construction can help you navigate the insurance claim process to make sure you get the best settlement and get your home back to normal as soon as possible.

“I personally meet with the adjuster, thoroughly document everything, and work on getting a fair insurance settlement that will pay for what needs to be renovated,” states Ron. “Over the past 25 years, we have become insurance experts.”

“We work for the homeowner—not the insurance company,” he adds, noting that his company has helped countless homeowners settle better insurance claims.

“I caution people that they should make sure they get paid directly by the insurance company and then pay a home remodeling company for the renovation, as opposed to using a remodeling company that gets paid directly by the insurance company.”
