Most people strive to be first, but Dr. William Aerni is perfectly content to come in second.

“Wait a minute now, don’t give people the wrong idea about me,” chuckles the affable owner of Aerni Dental, and the man responsible for helping to preserve the teeth of thousands of people right here in Northeast Ohio. He does that by offering the latest advancements in implantation, orthodontics and preventative care.

Okay, okay, so he’s not the guy who settles for being second best. But he doesn’t mind if new patients come to him for a free second opinion before investing big bucks in their smiles. In fact, he encourages it.

“That’s more like it,” he nods. “I want people to know they can schedule a time to visit with me for a free, no-pressure second opinion any time.”

Dr. Aerni notes that when it comes to implants, a big box name is typically the first to spring into people’s minds, so they schedule an appointment, get an idea about what can be done, and then leave with a huge estimate and no idea what they’re going to do once the implant surgery is done.

“That’s not how we operate,” he insists.

“In addition to offering extensive reconstructive dentistry in a calm, relaxed environment, I provide immediate implants with restoration so people can eat and chew right away. But then I take my care a step further, by helping people to ensure the investment they’re making in their mouth lasts. That’s what makes us different. A lot of places can offer implant surgery, but we’re interested in helping to preserve that effort. We want people to know they’re not on their own after the procedure is done.”

There’s a huge segment of the population out there with loose or missing teeth, or there wouldn’t be box store businesses in every major city to address those issues. But Dr. Aerni, who completed his first implant surgery on his father in 1986 and helped his dad keep those same teeth until his death in 2012, wants people to feel completely comfortable when they visit him for a second opinion.

“I can help you sift through all of the information you’ve been told,” he says. “I’ll do an evaluation and go over all of your options. Implants aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. What might work best for you won’t work for someone else.”

And, Dr. Aerni stresses, making sure his patients keep the investment they’ve made healthy and functioning properly is almost as important as the implant procedure itself. Aerni Dental offers hygiene specifically geared toward dental implant patients, that way the hygienist has the opportunity to intercept any problems early.

The costs associated with each treatment offered by Aerni Dental differ, with a full set of implants costing the most. “But we offer different ranges and different therapies, so people can choose the one that makes them the most comfortable, both physically and financially,” he says. “Most importantly, when we first meet with a patient, he or she leaves understanding all of the options available and is able to make an informed decision.”

Fixed and removable solutions mean that dental implants aren’t the only option. Care Credit and financing are available.
