Providing effective alternatives to surgery and medications to treat a myriad of ailments, Synergy Physical Therapy & Wellness takes a holistic approach to wellness. One of our many specializations is pelvic floor dysfunction. There are not many therapists in our area who are trained in pelvic floor therapy, so we are filling a much-needed niche.

Since the symptoms can vary from the urge to urinate frequently to constipation, discomfort during sexual intercourse, and pain in the pelvic region or lower back, oftentimes patients with pelvic floor dysfunction are misdiagnosed.

How can low back pain or even pain in your knee or jaw be related to the sacroiliac joint in your pelvis? Often leading to misdiagnosis, pain felt in one part of the body is not necessarily where it originates.

Through a physical therapy evaluation, we often find problems originate in the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at base of the pelvic area that support the organs in the pelvis. It is a vital part of core stability.

To treat pelvic floor dysfunction, we offer several treatments, such as internal pelvic floor manual release, abdominal strengthening and kegel exercises, biofeedback and hypopressive fitness.

How can hypopressive/low pressure fitness help you? A new service we added this fall, hypopressive fitness, is a highly effective way to strengthen and stabilize the core, improve posture, and enhance visceral mobilization. Similar to yoga in that it focuses on posture and breathing, the goals and results are different.

We can help you strengthen your abdomen and pelvic floor with less strain on your muscles by teaching different postures and breathing techniques in our treatment sessions, as well as providing a home exercise program.
