At Exhale Spa, guests have full access to the adjacent 60,000-square-foot Fitness Center at University Hospitals Avon Health Center.

Whether relaxing in the sauna before a massage, working out on the fitness floor before taking off the sneakers for a pedicure, or swimming laps in the pool before a facial, spa-goers can take advantage of the only spa in town that is part of a fitness center—providing additional wellness perks. Although Exhale Spa is nestled inside the fitness center, it is open to the public so you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the spa services.

“When booking any service at the spa, you get a complimentary pass to enjoy all of the fitness center’s amenities before and after your salon services,” explains Dana Doheny, Exhale Spa supervisor.

“One of our clients, for example, likes to spin, so she books her manicures on days there are spinning classes. We have everything under one roof when it comes to your overall health and wellness.”

Offering much more than just manicures, pedicures, facials and massages, Exhale Spa also provides unique spa services, such as Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, which is a barefoot massage technique using deep strokes from the therapist’s feet; and the Ionic Foot Detox, which pulls toxins out of your body through your feet.

Eyebrow Microblading
Always on the cutting edge, Exhale Spa constantly adds new services. This spring, the spa will be offering microblading. Using a small blade shaped like a hair, semi-permanent ink is feathered in the outer layer of skin.

“The ink will slowly fade, but it lasts for two years,” says Fhadya Ghommayd, certified microblading esthetician. “These hair strokes are more natural than the line appearance of tattooed eyebrows that you can never get rid of.”

“As an esthetician, I know how to design and shape the brow arch to complement the brow bone and facial features,” says Fhadya. “I take into consideration the person’s face shape, bone structure and eye shape. I enhance your look by framing your eyes and balancing your face.”

“It is important to note that your brows are not twins, but rather sisters, meaning the brows don’t match 100 percent because they have their own nuances.”

The client’s brow area is numbed during the treatment during the initial two to three rounds of microblading. In six weeks, the client comes back for a touchup.

The esthetician blends the ink colors, usually one shade lighter than your hair color, but it can be customized depending on if you want a more dramatic or a more natural look.

Hydro-Microdermabrasion Plus
With winter’s drying effect on our skin, Exhale Spa’s newest skin care treatment offers deep exfoliation and hydration to restore soft, suppleness to your face.

A three-in-one treatment, Hydro-Microdermabrasion Plus utilizes the natural healing properties of water and oxygen.

During the procedure, the esthetician dermaplanes your skin and then infuses different serums, including peptides, hyaluronic acid and anti-aging serums, to customize the facial to each client’s needs.

“The oxygen portion of the facial promotes collagen production, restoring volume and firmness to skin that has lost elasticity,” comments Dana. “After this treatment, you basically leave the spa with new skin.”

“Our focus is on overall wellness,” she says. “Not only will you look beautiful, but you’ll also feel amazing.”
