Practicing law is a profession that’s often the brunt of bad jokes. But after they’ve “walked into a bar,” “screwed in a lightbulb,” or “been at the bottom of the ocean,” the laugh is actually on anyone telling these jokes, because lawyers are in the unique position to save you time, money, and maybe even a court date.

After graduating from law school more than a decade ago, Attorney Margaret T. Karl chose to specialize in legal issues facing seniors, as her parents’ 24-year age difference left her dealing with these considerations younger than most.

Over the years she has earned a reputation for expertise in her job, always putting her clients’ best interests first and keeping the billing honest and trustworthy.

To that end, she doesn’t “start the clock” on her hourly rate with every phone call or email. She’ll tell you how much something will cost upfront and there are no hidden fees.

Clients often remark on her affordable prices and she notes she’s able to offer them because of low overhead, unlike many larger firms.

Accessibility is another factor that separates Margie from most lawyers.

She enjoys making house calls, meeting with her clients in their homes, care facilities or even their hospital rooms if needed.

Here’s What Her Clients Have to Say
Although she specializes in elder law, Margie is qualified to aid in any legal matter. For instance, Phil C. of Berea has needed Margie for a variety of services over the years, from divorce proceedings to a pre-nuptial agreement, real estate transfers and association disputes.

“From time to time, it’s good to have things reviewed or handled by legal professionals. I find that my requests get answered quickly and are handled well. She is “Johnny-on-the-spot” with her service! One of the things I like about Margie’s law firm is the YouTube videos she posts. They are useful and informative. I would highly recommend her services.”

And just last month, a couple from Strongsville went to Margie for help with a roofing contractor who took their deposit, and then never showed up and never returned their calls.

“She listened carefully to the explanation of our difficulty. She analyzed the situation and then presented a plan. She made multiple calls to the company on our behalf when they would not respond to us. At each step in the process, she followed up and kept us apprised of the progress. The price for this service was reasonable and inclusive. We strongly believe that our new roof would not have been installed without her persistence. We highly recommend this firm to friends needing legal services.”

‘Tis the Season to Get Your Affairs in Order
With holiday travel coming up, whether by land, by sea or by air, Margie says November is a busy month for her to meet with clients who want to draw up wills or make sure their documentation is up-to-date in case anything catastrophic happens.

“And with folks having more time off work, the fourth quarter is the perfect time to sit down with me for estate planning,” she adds.

“Clients don’t really need to bring much in terms of documentation. They are always surprised by how easy the process is—and how affordable. For instance, those drawing up a will would only pay a few hundred dollars.”
