If tickling the keyboard of your microwave is your idea of cooking, or if you have a dream kitchen but are unsure of just what all that technology you purchased can do, we have good news for you. Chef Brittany Reilly, of Home Appliance Sales and Service in Avon, is conducting cooking classes that are a bit of a step beyond the ordinary.

“I have a blast here,” Chef Brittany says. “This is such a fabulous space. The owners are very much family oriented and want this store to feel like home. So, when customers come in and I am puttering around one of the six working kitchens testing recipes for a future class, they are amazed by the sounds and aromas you don’t experience at the average appliance store.”

“In fact, many people don’t even realize that this is a retail appliance store,” she adds. “Because of our size they assume this is either a distributor showroom or a warehouse of some sort. But, yes, we do sell appliances here. Lots and lots of them—one piece at a time or in kitchen packages, which are extremely popular in this market.”

The Appliance Store—With a Chef
So, what exactly does Chef Brittany do?

“I hold special classes to demonstrate how to use these wonderful technologies that are emerging,” she reveals.

Food, fun and new friends make for a memorable evening.

“People are fascinated by the capabilities of the latest appliances, but often find themselves intimidated. They don’t understand that all of the sensors and processors do the hard work, while you take credit for food that is prepared with the same quality as a pro chef. Take steam ovens, for example. Appliances with this feature will take your bread and baking beyond the next level, and they allow you to reheat food without drying it out.”

“When I’m here, I am available to answer questions for our customers in order to help them make a wise decision on their appliance purchase,” she says.

“For those who invest in any of our high-end appliance lines, like Thermadore, Monogram, Sub-Zero Wolf, and others, I am available to provide private instruction on the operation of this magnificent equipment as part of your purchase.”

Of course, the part of Chef Brittany’s job that is most obvious to the public are the many classes she hosts. These vary widely and Home Appliance encourages anyone interested in the techniques of creating better food to join them. The charges for these classes vary and in many your experience will be hands-on.
