Fruit Punch Pink. Sea Monster Green. Bambino Blue. Though you probably don’t think of hair color when you hear these names, they are the latest shades from the Matrix SoColor Cult vibrant hair color line.

As the local beauty trendsetters, the hairstylists at Cory’s Hair Studio & Day Spa stay abreast of all hair coloring and cutting techniques. Three of the staff just returned from the Matrix Destination 2020 hair show in Orlando, Florida, where they report fantasy hair color was all the rage. Just look at Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish, who sported neon green hair at the awards ceremony last month.

“Fantasy color adds some fun to your style,” says stylist Stephanie Kinsinger. “The fantasy hair colors that you are seeing on the runways are more mainstream today and not avant-garde anymore.”

And they are not just for those in their teens and twenties. “I have clients in their 60s who like these bright colors,” says Stephanie. “Oftentimes I add just a peekaboo strand of color, such as couple pink strands in the bangs or purple strands just around the face to frame it.”

And when you want to change your color, Matrix has a Color Eraser to remove the pigment.

Also on trend this spring are stacked, inverted bobs. “I put a lot of layers in the back to give the bob more volume and make it an edgy, modern interpretation of the bob,” says hairstylist Miranda Zingalis.
