Mark B. Johnson’s throwback story began in 1972, when he worked for various carpet companies as an installer. He worked his way up and ended up buying Shore Flooring & Interiors in 2009.

“We’ve always taken pride in our old-fashioned work ethic,” says Mark. “Serving several generations of customers in the area, we offer a streamlined operation people trust, with seasoned installers and a wide selection of high-performance products.”

On any given day walking into the spacious showroom, you’ll meet with Mark. He oversees sales, installation and consultations.

What’s Trending in Flooring?
Whether it’s hard-surface flooring or carpeting, products have dramatically improved over the years in terms of moisture-resistance, scratch-resistance and durability.

“Luxury vinyl tile is all the rage right now,” he says. “It checks all the boxes, providing beautiful looks, most often mimicking the appearance of hardwoods. The technology that imprints the high-definition patterns on top of the vinyl has come so far, it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference between real wood and LVT. We’re still seeing distressed barn wood looks to fit with rustic farmhouse décor, as well as lighter bleached woods for a more modern touch.”

When it comes to carpeting, water-resistance has come a long way, too.

“Most of the manufacturers have created extremely soft styles that feel amazing to your feet and very luxurious,” he says. “Neutrals are always popular, but we’re seeing lots of fun patterns, such as geometric, stripes, arabesque, and even animal prints.”

For a unique design element in any room, they can custom cut an area rug to fit the space, in any size or shape. There are also many beautiful area rugs on display in the warehouse showroom.

Quick Install
Since Mark and his staff deal with so many different distributors, they can almost always get the flooring you choose within a week. Installation is usually only a day.

“Either I or one of our installers goes to your home, does the measuring and either brings samples or has you come to the warehouse showroom to pick out your own samples to bring home,” says Mark.

“We believe strongly in the brands we represent which are backed up with extensive warranties, up to 30 years,” he says. “We can do that because of our highly trained and seasoned installers, who work directly for us. When it comes to flooring, precise installation is so important. All of our guys’ work is guaranteed.”
