David Woodrum is well acquainted with the desires of senior living.

“My mom is in her 60s and wants to move out of her split level,” confides the district manager of Clover Management, which operates a group of local apartment communities exclusively for the 55-and-over crowd.

“But she still wants to entertain family and friends and host out of town visitors. She wants to stay independent while moving on from the unwanted headaches of home ownership, like mowing the lawn and having to repair the roof and leaky faucets.”

That’s exactly what Clover’s affordable independent living communities provide, David emphasizes.

“We offer true independent living,” he says.

“We have so many amenities and social activities that residents don’t really have to leave if they don’t want to. But more than half of our residents still drive and most of them travel and have a very active lifestyle.”

Many senior living communities include three meals per day in their lease, and they charge between $3,000 and $4,000 per month. At Clover communities, you can eat where and when you want to, and spacious one and two bedroom apartments start at $895 per month—including heat and cable TV.

“Other senior living communities are nice, and the food may be good, but they charge a high price for the benefit of included meals,” David laments. “We offer a delicious, budget-friendly alternative.”

Three new Clover communities are now open in Northeast Ohio, and three more will be opening soon. Existing communities, all only one year old or less, are:

  • Parma Village Senior Apartments, at Stumph and Huffman roads, in Parma
  • Willoughby Hills Senior Apartments, at SOM Center and Chardon roads, in Willoughby Hills
  • Glenwood Square Senior Apartments, at Glenwood and Liberty roads, in Twinsburg

The three communities that are now or will soon be leasing are:

  • Southpark Square Senior Apartments, near SouthPark Mall, in Strongsville
  • Huntington Square Senior Apartments, near the Medina Square, in Medina
  • Lorain Pointe Senior Apartments, near North Leavitt Road, in Lorain

“All of our communities are located conveniently close to shopping, dining and other amenities, and all of them have very easy access to senior shuttles and/or public transportation for those residents who don’t drive,” David says.

Inside, the units are attractive and spacious, and well designed for the requirements of people who are retired or who plan to retire soon, he says.

“Many people like to bring their dinettes and china cabinets from their house,” David says.

“Our apartments are designed to optimize living area. They feature an open floor plan with roomy kitchens, walk-in showers, grab bars, in-suite laundries and other conveniences.”

The communities offer on-site beauty salons and fitness rooms, and have large community rooms where residents can gather for games, movies, parties and other social functions. Residents who want to host a large gathering can reserve the “family room.”

“Each community has activity coordinators to assist with social events,” David says. “I’m always thinking about what my mom would want—a safe, private place of her own. When she wants to hang out with other people in the community, there are a lot of things going on all the time, but without the pandemonium of kids screaming and loud people partying all night long.”

You can stop in to view the affordable luxury of Clover’s senior communities Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Or, visit CloverGroupInc.com to learn more or to get the phone numbers for each community.
