We were designed to be healthy for life. The secret to well-being lies in understanding and respecting the intelligent design of the human body and working with it, not against it. This is according to Drs. Janét and Nick Husser, owners of the new Optimum Health Chiropractic in Brunswick—and they are anxious to share this secret with families in the area who want to make good health a priority in their lives.

This charismatic married couple—who met at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa—makes you feel better the moment you enter their brightly designed clinic. You immediately sense their genuine concern for people and their passion for the career they have chosen. “We use the analogy of a light bulb as the human body in educating our patients and have incorporated that symbol into our logo,” offers Dr. Nick.

“Anything that impedes the function of the nervous system causes the light bulb to dim. A well functioning body is like a bright light bulb, glowing at full potential. We want everyone to be a bright light.”

Education is a key element to Optimum Health’s philosophy. Dr. Nick and Dr. Janét know that chiropractic, an alternative form of healthcare that focuses on nerve system function as it relates to health, may be a new concept of health for many of us. “Many patients may seek chiropractic care only when they are in pain, and we can help them,” assures Dr. Nick. “But it is a major misconception that chiropractic care is only for the treatment of neck and back pain.

Everyone should enjoy restored nerve and body function that allows the natural wisdom of the body to heal itself. Once symptoms are removed, we can begin to implement a wellness program that will lead you to a state of optimum physical, mental and social well being.”

“We coach our patients on how to have a positive mental attitude, exercise and eat in a way that is compatible with health,” Dr. Nick adds. “If you do not address all of these aspects of life, you will never know what it is to be truly healthy.”

The two doctors are so committed to this concept of wellness that they have implemented a “Well Patient Care Fee System,” a concept relatively new to this area. The program allows individuals or entire families to enjoy unlimited chiropractic care for a low monthly fee. “Once a patient has completed their initial intensive care phase and we have corrected the initial injury, we can offer them this program. Others, who may not need intensive care can enter the program after an initial evaluation,” explains Dr. Janét. “The cost of healthcare can be very expensive and prevent you from receiving ongoing care. We offer this fee system so that you can benefit from the wellness care you need to stay healthy and feel well.”

Although they care for people of all ages, Optimum Health Chiropractic concentrates on family health. “We feel that if we want to make the world a brighter place through chiropractic we have to start with children,” insists Dr. Janét. “Most people do not realize that the birth process alone is often times the first injury to the spine and nerve system.
