There’s something about the inherent artistry of fabric. In its uncut form, it holds exciting promise and personality. For very little money, a single fabric style or a delicious combination of the year’s freshest new designs can completely transform an outdated room, revive a piece of furniture that may have seemingly outlived its usefulness, and reflect a person’s changing tastes and moods with ease.
At the delightfully warm and unpretentious Fabric Gallery in Twinsburg, owners Bob and Nancy Van de Motter offer clients direct access to an exciting and ever-changing array of styles and colors that comprise the fabric choices available on the market today.
Their inventory of nearly 10,000 different fabrics entirely changes virtually each year, with many new designs making their debuts every month.
Although the shop has been open for 27 years, some people still assume that the Fabric Gallery caters exclusively to “the trade.” But that simply isn’t the case, says Nancy, who is also an interior designer.
“We offer homeowners unprecedented access to fabrics that are of a professional grade and quality. It’s rare for the general public to be able to touch, feel and buy at this level without having to go through a middleman,” she offers.
As a talented sewer, Nancy custom-designs stunning window treatments ranging in style from simple valances to elaborate multi-layer compositions. And she’s happy to create her designs on paper so that home sewers can purchase the fabric then create the finished product on their own.
Bob handles minor upholstery jobs, as well as sales and blind installation.
Both are experts at helping customers choose exactly the right fabric to complete a look. In fact, Nancy offers her design and decorating expertise free of charge to clients who purchase from the Fabric Gallery.
And while she does not sell accessories or furniture, she’s happy to help clients determine which pieces will go best in a particular room and with which window treatments. It’s an advantage not commonly found at national chain stores.
Another distinction offered by Fabric Gallery is lower prices.
“We’re at least one-third the cost of the national stores because here there are fewer pieces of the pie. They have to pay an independent designer, an installer, a sewer, and a ton of money for advertising. We handle all of the work ourselves and we rely primarily on word of mouth to get our business. The savings can really add up,” says Bob.
Because your order for window treatments, custom throw pillows, blinds and more is handled in house, you don’t have to worry about incorrect measurements, careless installation, or a mistake with your fabric choice.
Fabric Gallery is also a “Priority Showcase Dealer” representing the Hunter Douglas line of premium blinds and window coverings. Bob and Nancy’s clients are the first to have access to new styles and special rebate offers like the $25 rebate per shade on Hunter Douglas Energy Efficient Window Fashions Sale now through April 15.
And in a time when many clients are looking for cost-effective ways to spruce up a room without having to spend a lot, Nancy says that incorporating fresh, custom-made throw pillows is an ideal quick-fix. “You’d be surprised at how dramatic the change can be with a simple touch like this,” she shares.
If you are ready to take your room design to the next level, Bob says it’s easy to work within your budget. “We’re able to offer fabrics and window coverings in just about every price range,” he assures.
Because the range of styles and colors of fabrics available at the Fabric Gallery is so extensive, Nancy cautions against trying to plan your project over the phone. “Many times our clients aren’t even aware that certain choices exist until they visit us,” she shares.
