Mainstreet Café wins Best Soup at Soup and All That Jazz--Medina

Mainstreet Cafe’s flavorful Chipotle Steak Mushroom soup captured both the Judge’s Award and People’s Choice at Soup and All That Jazz, a fundraiser for Faith in Action Medina County Caregivers held at Elmcroft of Medina April 17.

Heimatland Restaurant of Brunswick won second place for its hearty Potato Corn Chowder and Coppertop Restaurant of Valley City garnered third place for its attractive and tasty Black Bean & Pumpkin Bisque.

Judges for the fourth annual event were: Carole Kowell, director of Medina District Library; Dennis Hanwell, chief of Medina City Police Dept.; Patricia Geissman, Medina County Commissioner; Neil Hassinger, Medina County Sheriff; and Brian Feron, candidate for Medina County Commissioner. “The judges were really challenged to select the top three soups because all were so good,” said Sheriff Hassinger.

“Elmcroft of Medina was very pleased to host the 4th Annual Soup and all that Jazz again this year,” said Jackie Mitchell, residence director. “The event is always successful in bringing together our community. It gives exposure to our area restaurants and highlights the services of Faith in Action Medina County Caregivers.  Keeping seniors in their homes is very important for a person’s dignity.  By helping FIA raise funds, we help maintain this program for our community. We are always happy to help seniors maintain their independence and dignity.”

“Thank you to all of the chefs, restaurants and sponsors who participated in the event,” said Julie Wayman, executive director of Faith in Action. “We’re a local nonprofit that depends on the community's generosity at annual events such as Soup and All That Jazz to fund our core services. We are blessed to have so many individuals and businesses that care about the needs of our health-impaired and disabled senior citizens in Medina County.”

Blue Lunch jazz band of Cleveland entertained attendees while they sampled 10 soups and bid on silent auction items.

Other restaurants that donated and served soups were:
