It’s not too late to make a New Year’s resolution.

If chronic pain is keeping you from living the life you want to live, here’s a resolution for you: Resolve to take your life back.

Keeping that resolution may be as simple as a visit to Dr. David Zymler, founder of the Zymler Chiropractic Center and director of Physicians Laser Center, in Parma Heights. Dr. Zymler, one of the first physicians in the United States to introduce non-invasive laser therapy, may make that chronic pain last year’s news.

“Laser therapy is an option to reduce chronic pain and improve a person’s quality of life, with the avoidance of surgery and without dependency on pain medications that have numerous side effects, including damage to the liver and kidneys,” Dr. Zymler explains.

With more than 30 years as a chiropractic physician, Dr. Zymler has offered non-invasive laser therapy for more than two years, with excellent results. Some patients, like Loraine, of North Royalton, who had scheduled surgery, were able to cancel their trip to the operating room after receiving laser therapy. “I was able to resume my walking [after laser treatments on my knee],” Loraine says.

“Dr. Zymler and the laser treatments have gotten me through some of the worst pain I have experienced,” reports Patricia, a patient from Parma Heights. “The effectiveness of the laser is proven every day to me when I can walk, stand, sit, drive a car and perform routine tasks without severe pain, without having to use a cane or wheelchair and without the use of painkillers and steroid injections. Such a blessing.”

Although the FDA certified laser therapy for the treatment of patients just two years ago, it has been very popular for use by professional sports teams.

“It was originally developed for the Russian cosmonauts so they could treat themselves in space,” Dr. Zymler says. “Injuries treated with laser therapy have been shown to heal faster and laser treatment is just starting to open the door to allow more people to live without chronic pain. A lot of elderly people come in with canes and walkers and we want them to get back to their life without medication.”

Vasili, a patient from Brunswick who received laser treatment on his hip, relates, “Laser therapy has helped me to get back to my normal activities and I have no pain.”

Similarly, Viki of North Royalton says, “Before I could hardly walk, sleep and reach without pain. Now I can do all of those activities. If I overdo something and I feel pain, I go in and get therapy. In a couple treatments I feel much better.”

Laser therapy can be used to treat soft tissue injuries like sprains and strains of the neck and back, Tennis Elbow and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome; degenerative joint conditions like arthritis of the spine, shoulders, hips and knees; neurogenic pain from Fibromyalgia; neck and low back disc injuries, sciatic pain and pain and numbness in the arm.

“There are some circumstances where medication and surgery are necessary and if that’s the case I will make referrals to the appropriate specialists. But I think surgery should be a last resort and with laser therapy, it may be prevented completely or delayed for years.”
He adds that orthopedic surgeons have acknowledged the benefits of laser therapy.

“They recognize the importance of keeping your own hip and knee joints as long as possible and they are now referring patients to me,” he says.

Multi-Radiance Medical, the manufacturer of the “super pulse” laser device Dr. Zymler uses, acknowledged his success by asking him to develop new treatment protocols based on the results of his treatment programs.

“Laser therapy isn’t the answer for all cases,” says Dr. Zymler. “But we do have a high rate of pain reduction for just about everybody. The bottom line is to provide quality of life instead of people being confined to home.”

To find out how to reduce the pain in your life, call Dr. Zymler for a free initial consultation. Bring in as much information and documentation as possible—like MRIs, x-rays and doctor’s reports to better help Dr. Zymler diagnose your problem.

And this New Year, may old pain be forgot and never brought to mind.
