OCTOBER 25, 2007—Although we have been bypassed by other markets (Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Detroit) on several announced tours, here are some special performers making their way to our area besides The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, on November 4th at the Q.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum presents a celebration of the legacy of one of the founding fathers of rock and roll, the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis, who will be honored at the 12th Annual American Music Masters series. A concert in Jerry’s honor will take place at Playhouse Square’s State Theater on November 10, with performances by George Thorogood, Shelby Lynne, Kris Kristofferson, Terry Adams from NRBQ, Wanda Jackson, Narvel Felts, Billy Lee Riley, Cowboy Jack Clement, Jason D. Williams and Lewis’ cousin the Reverend Jimmy Swaggart on piano. The 2007 Series will mark the first time that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will honor a living master.

The Kent State Folk Festival will be highlighted with performances by Dr. John and David Bromberg on Saturday, November 17 in the Kent State Ballroom. Dr. John brings the musical heritage of New Orleans, which mixes voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, and Creole roots. Bromberg, part of the 1960s Greenwich Village coffeehouse scene, is a master guitarist blending blues, country, jazz, folk and classical. His appearance at this year’s Folk Festival may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this seldom touring troubadour.
Halloween weekend doesn’t get much better when you can see Ryan Adams & The Cardinals at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium on Saturday October 27th.

As you have read in past issues, there are albums that grow stronger, sweeter, and more necessary each time you play them. Gold was that way and so is his latest release Easy Tiger. Adams may be the best North American singer-songwriter since Neil Young. And since Uncle Neil hasn’t decided to pay us a visit yet, check out what all the fuss is about with this Ryan Adams character. Maybe Diane Jacquinot from Strongsville will after hearing Cold Roses ;-)
