Sure Mulligan’s Bar ‘n Grille is the ideal place to throw back a couple of ice-cold draught Dortmunders to wind down from the day’s lunacy. But, stresses Ron Kencson, owner of the popular Strongsville hangout, you won’t want to take a Mulligan on the “grill” part of the place.
“We feature restaurant quality food at bar prices,” Ron promises. “We’re not just serving wings here. We serve a lot of great meals.”
Not that Mulligan’s chicken wings, served with a choice of 16 different sauces, aren’t delicious. But Mulligan’s also features fresh steaks, seafood and pasta dinners at prices that are well under par.
Try the Thursday night pork chop special, for example. For $3.99, it would probably cost you more to eat at home.
“This is a quality lean cut,” says Ron, adding that Mulligan’s cuts and trims its own steaks and chops.
Mulligan’s barbecue baby back rib dinner, featuring a special sweet sauce with a bit of a bite, served with fries, coleslaw and fresh baked bread and butter, costs a reasonable $14.99. Come in on Wednesdays and knock a buck off that price.
“That’s $13.99 for two-and-a-half to three full pounds of ribs,” Ron emphasizes.
If you like burgers, Mulligan’s offers a full course of toppings, all stacked with hand-made fresh beef patties and available in five-ounce, eight-ounce or full pound portions.
The 1st Hole includes grilled peppers, onions and mushrooms with American cheese. The 2nd Hole is topped with grilled salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato and onion, with italian dressing. There are 12 holes in all, including the Mustang Home Team Burger, featuring Cajun spiced beef with bleu cheese,
For seafood lovers, Mulligan’s offers four hand-breaded pieces of Lake Erie perch every Friday for $9.59, served with salad or slaw, potato, bread and butter.
The crab legs are a Mulligan’s favorite, at $12.99 for more than a pound.
Lunchtime is also special at Mulligan’s, with daily deals at around $5 to $6, Monday through Friday, on homemade meals like chicken paprikash, meatloaf, swiss steak and pasta.
And many people don’t know that you can tee off the day with breakfast at Mulligan’s starting at 6:00 a.m. Try two eggs, bacon, sausage or ham, with home fries and toast for just $3.79. Or dig into a biscuit smothered with sausage gravy for $2.99.
“It’s the best breakfast in Strongsville,” Ron says.
After your meal, you can hang around and relax.
Mulligan’s features 17 flat screen TVs with the full NFL satellite package and plenty of other sports. Think about gearing up for the Ohio State-Michigan football game party on November 21. “We’re going to put out a complimentary buffet and give out Ohio State hats and tee shirts as long as they last,” Ron says.
Pool and darts are big at Mulligan’s, which holds an open pool tournament every Monday night. Mulligan’s sponsors several pool and dart teams.
“We have an eight-ball and a nine-ball team going to the national championships next month in South Carolina,” Ron says.
Mulligan’s delivers lunches and offers catering services. It regularly caters luncheons for groups like Southwest General Health Center.
Mulligan’s is located at 20880 Royalton Road. You can call 440-238-4447 for more information. Coming soon, a new Mulligan’s website. On Halloween night, October 31, Mulligan’s will host a Halloween party featuring drink specials after 9:00 p.m. and a load of fun all day.
