Founder and Publisher
Email Mimi

After seven trips to the altar, the unforgettable Mimi Vanderhaven discovered that her true passion is the genuine uniqueness of high quality, locally owned businesses. In 2003, with help from lots of friends, she founded the publication Mimi Vanderhaven right here in Northeast Ohio. She wanted to—in her words—"preserve business diversity" by helping her favorite businesses compete with homogenous national chains. In spite of running a highly public media company, Mimi tends to be a very private person, preferring to express her passionate views in print and online rather than in person. You can read her views every month in print or every day online.

Creative Director
Email Lynn

When she started mixing crayons to create even more colors, Lynn discovered her love of art. Those hours became days and now years spent having fun with colors, shapes, photos and type. Involved since Mimi's very first cover story on June 11, 2003, Lynn, with talented photographer/husband, Benjamin, strives to keep Mimi looking her best. And, that leaves just enough time for tennis, hiking the parks and reading.

Email Benjamin

Ben was born and raised on the Mediterranean where he swam and fished. Inspired by a Life magazine cover, Ben began photographing the many characters in his sea town. The winds changed direction and took Ben to Johannesburg, South Africa where he opened his first commercial photography studio and worked on ad campaigns for companies like Sotheby's, Bayer, Midas and Phillips. Another gust came and brought Ben to America for a photographic award and he serendipitously landed in Cleveland. Today, he calls Peninsula home with his wife, Lynn, whom he calls "darling", their two children and Jackie, the Jack Russell. Ben's favorite part of photographing people for Mimi's is building that trusting relationship so he can draw out a great expression that helps tell a story.

Sue and her husband, Paul, have a daughter in high school, a son in middle school and two daughters in elementary school. The Schultz family is involved in band, baseball, basketball, dance teams, music lessons and volunteering. The calendar is always full at the Schultz house!

Arlene says she seized the opportunity to make the switch to Mimi early in 2009, and hasn’t looked back – and hasn’t stopped running. Mimi Vanderhaven Senior Architect
Email Dale

Dale has a diverse background that lends itself well to understanding what Mimi's advertisers and readers want from their visit here. He began working with his father in his family's wholesale wine, candy and tobacco distribution business at the age of 14 where he learned the values of hard work, dedication and above all, customer service. At the age of 25, he decided to indulge his love of cooking and entrepreneurship by venturing into the restaurant business. He and his wife owned and operated a Cafe in downtown Cleveland for years, where he gained a thorough knowledge of small business ownership, its challenges and rewards. During this time, he also served his community as a part-time police officer. It wasn’t long before his kids introduced him to all the world wide web had to offer…and he discovered the power of internet marketing, social networking, and technology. He found he could blend together his love of sales, small business ownership, and technology at Mimi Vanderhaven. When Dale is not creating/developing new and exciting places for you to visit on Mimi Avenue, you may spot him coaching on a local baseball diamond, hunting, fishing, or hiking outdoors, or enjoying some of the wonderful restaurants, cultural events, music, theater and sports events we are blessed to have here in Northeastern Ohio. He is proud to call this home and believes it is a great place to live and raise their three children!

Hailing from a very small town in Ohio near the western Pennsylvania border called Toronto, Kelli opted for a change of scenery and moved to Akron to pursue her education at The University of Akron.  Her love of communicating with the public and all things fashion encouraged her to pursue a double Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and Fashion Merchandising.  A long-time lover of print media, Kelli's dream was to work for a publication, and now she is living that dream with Mimi.  Currently residing in North Royalton, Kelli loves exploring Northeast Ohio's local hot spots, spending time with her boyfriend and spoiling her cat Paisley.  Her guilty pleasures are good books, reality TV, and juicy celebrity gossip.  A self-proclaimed "country girl," she enjoys going to concerts, sitting around a bonfire with good friends, and all Pittsburgh sports (Go Steelers!).

Personal Assistant to Mimi
Email Pat

Pat has always had a passion for sales and marketing, and at the age of 7 she opened her own "bug  zoo," charging admission to view the neighborhood grasshoppers, spiders and butterflies in their glass jars. She wasn't quite ready to retire, so a couple of decades later, she became a sales rep for the industrial division of Ameritech Publishing, where she enjoyed helping small businesses with ad design. After another decade, she transitioned into graphic design, producing eye catching, effective collateral materials for her clients. Pat has long admired Mimi, and as a salesperson with a consultative approach, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to offer small businesses a results oriented, cost effective way to tell their story. Pat enjoys caring for her flower garden, hiking (especially out west), macro and landscape photography, antique hunting, hugs from the grandkids, and a good piece of dark chocolate.

Marketing Imaginologist
Email Connie

After graduating from Baldwin Wallace College with a double major in Marketing and Management, Connie headed downtown to work for 2 broadcast TV stations (over the course of 4 years). After realizing that life isn’t all about budgets, high pressure sales and long, stressful work days, she packed up her desk and went to work in the suburbs (gasp!) for Mimi. Working for Mimi has allowed her to use her background to help companies develop the best strategy for their marketing campaign, as well as develop long lasting client relationships. Since arriving at Mimi, Connie has accomplished her life long goal to stop biting her nails, but has yet to conquer her “biting into assorted chocolates to see what’s inside” habit. With her husband, beagle named Barney, and cats, Archie and Lucy, she lives in Hinckley, Ohio where they are completing the finishing touches on their newly built home.  Connie loves chocolate, chocolate covered fruit and Italian food (with a chocolate dessert, of course!). Her husband would also like everyone to know that the cats weren’t initially his, he inherited them in the marriage.
