Let the Good Times Roll!

Both the newly expanded Twinsburg Beverage and Liquor and Aurora Beer, Wine and Liquor carry an impressive selection of fine wines and spirits at state minimum prices—and no Cuyahoga County Sin Tax.

Chances are you’re not on a first name basis with the guy who stocks the wine shelves at your local supermarket. And if you’d like him to offer a suggestion on which wine would best complement your homemade penne Alfredo in a basil cream sauce, inquire at your own risk.

At Twinsburg Beverage and Liquor, and Aurora Beer, Wine and Liquor, the neighborly service and expert advice offered by owners Paul Sohal and Jesse Singh prompt enthusiastic personal greetings from nearly every customer who walks in.

“That’s the difference between us and a grocery store,” Paul insists. “We know our customers and we have great friendly service. We are happy to help you to your car with your purchases, if needed.”

Paul and Jesse, who bought the Twinsburg liquor store three years ago, have now doubled the size of the shop and expanded their selection to include beer, wine, cigars and just about everything you need to host a great party. Meanwhile, they purchased the Aurora store in July, and now offer a pair of locations where beverages are sold at state minimum prices—free of the Cuyahoga County Sin Tax.

“People can’t believe it when they walk in,” says Paul of the expanded Twinsburg store. “When we bought it three years ago, it was liquor only and it was all behind the counter. We switched it to self-serve, but it was very cramped in here.”

In June, Paul and Jesse were able to lease additional space, doubling the size of the store. Twinsburg Beverage now features more than 500 brands of beer, including imports from around the world, and microbrews, like Great Lakes.

“We’ve expanded our selection of fine wines and added fine cigars,” Jesse notes. “We have any liquor item available in Ohio and have added refrigerated cases for beer and wine.”

He adds that wine is available at a 10-percent discount by the case—mix or match. While you’re shopping, you might try an Ohio Lottery game. The store once sold a $35 million winning ticket.

On a tour around the store, Jesse points out some of the choice selections, like Marilyn Monroe Merlots and Norma Jean wines. A full shelf is dedicated to USDA certified organic wines from the vineyards of California and Washington state.

“Most stores don’t keep many of these wines on hand because they are expensive,’’ Jesse says. “We keep a large inventory. The Aurora store carries wines that range from a dollar a bottle to $2,500 a bottle.

The selection of soft drinks, paper products—and even Advil for the morning after the party—make the Twinsburg and Aurora locations one-stop shops for your next event.

Paul and Jesse, who have been operating stores for 30 years, purchased the Twinsburg store from a retiring lady who owned it for 35 years. The scenario was repeated last month in Aurora.

“We enjoy this business,” Paul says. “People are happy when they come in.

They’re always in a good mood.”
