Last chance to see Ryan Humbert

Date: 11/19/2007
This past April, I wrote a column about a local up and coming musician. Well, there are only a few more times to hear this singer/songwriter before he up and moves to Nashville. He is moving on to reach the next level, working harder than ever to accomplish his dream. Soon, he will be entering the studio to begin recording what may be his national debut record with one of the industries A-List producers. This, my friends, is the passion of Mr. Ryan Humbert.
One performance will take place Friday, November 30th at Musica in downtown Akron. This will be a Ryan Humbert and Emily Bates duo show. The tight harmony and chemistry both singers share has been a staple of Ryan’s sound over the five years they have been singing together. This will be a very intimate and special show as they’ll be performing originals and some of their favorite timeless duets. The second performance will be the Ryan Humbert Band at Tangier’s Cabaret Room in Akron on Saturday December 8th for “The RHB Farewell Extravaganza.”
Ryan, Steve Norgrove, Emily Bates, and Ben Evans will be performing an all-star-filled evening of music, featuring special guests Tracey Thomas, The Strange Familiar, The Just Love to Sing Choir, The Jack Fords, and maybe a few more surprises to be announced. The band will be performing all your favorite RHB tracks from all four RHB releases, as well as some of their favorite covers and unreleased songs.
One other concert I must mention is The Musical Box return to Cleveland’s Playhouse Square State Theatre on December 9th, one of only 12 United States cities on the tour. The band recaptures the magic of an original Peter Gabriel era Genesis show with masks, costumes, make-up, accessories, sets, lighting design, special effects, and choreography. Along with instruments used during the era of 1972 and 1975, The Musical Box creates a presentation that is as true to the original band’s live productions. On this tour, The Musical Box recreates the Selling England By the Pound album, which includes “The Cinema Show” and “Firth of Fifth,” along with other classic songs like “The Musical Box” and the epic “Supper’s Ready.”
