JUNE 28, 2007—This year, I’ll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day coming August 17-19 in Cleveland. I’ll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with more than 1,000 other women and men. Each participant in the Breast Cancer 3-Day must raise a minimum of $2,200 to participate. Net proceeds from contributions will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.

I know that breast cancer has touched many of us, be it a family member, friend, or someone else who has made you stop and want to do something. That's why I’m walking 60 miles. To do something bold about breast cancer—raising money and awareness.

With some very special thanks to Ryan Humbert and the generosity of some fantastic area musicians, seven bands from throughout Northeast Ohio will come together to present Covers for a Cure at The Lime Spider on Friday, July 13th to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

The evening will feature special performances from some of the area’s best bands, who write and normally perform their own material. But on this night, famous artists will be covered by fabulous local bands, including: Blind Waltz (The Grateful Dead), The Ryan Humbert Band (Fleetwood Mac), The Jack Fords (Gram Parsons), Brian Lisik (Tom Petty), Pete Nischt (Oasis), Tracey Thomas (Dusty Springfield), and Zach (Prince). Admission at the door is only $5.

Covers for a Cure is presented by my team, The Pink Witnesses, a group of walkers participating in the The Breast Cancer 3-Day. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and showtime begins at 7:00 p.m. The Lime Spider is located at 207 South Main Street in downtown Akron.
