Buying a new heating or air conditioning system isn’t like shopping for a television,” explains Pat Jackson, sales manager for Jackson Comfort Systems, heating and cooling specialists with more than 114 years of experience. “When you buy a television, you bring it home and plug it in. It doesn’t matter where you bought it.”

That isn’t the case when you buy a furnace or air conditioner. “It’s much more complicated,” Pat shares.  “They must be connected to gas lines, electrical circuits,  vent pipe, drain and refrigerant lines, and if any one of these is not properly installed, your family’s safety is at risk, along with possible property damage.”

Jackson Comfort Systems specializes in finding the perfect fit for your home, resulting in the lowest overall costs.
“Many people are not getting maximum efficiency from their heating and cooling system because they are not designed, installed or maintained properly,” relates general manager Gary Jackson.

That’s why Jackson Comfort Systems does comprehensive testing and measurements before making a recommendation and doing the installation.

But one of the things you don’t get from Jackson Comfort Systems is as important as what you do get.

“There is no fine print,” Pat emphasizes as she displays the company’s straightforward installation agreement.
“We tell you up front exactly what we’re going to do and what it’s
going to cost.”

“Our crews are the best at taking care of your home.” Pat says. “They lay down drop cloths and cover their feet with shoe booties to protect your flooring from damage, and completely clean up when finished.”

Unique to Jackson Comfort is their extensive pre-job preparation, enabling the installation day to go much quicker and reduce downtime for the homeowner. All sheet metal is custom fabricated using their computerized plasma cutter. That means all ductwork and vents are made to fit snugly—without gaps. That’s part of Jackson’s pledge of, “No duct tape—ever.” “Poorly installed, leaking ductwork significantly increases energy bills and decreases comfort.”

Another Jackson Comfort exclusive is their free Home Comfort & Energy Assessment.  A JCS Specialist will spend about an hour examining your HVAC system; discussing your concerns about safety, efficiency, health and comfort; reviewing recommendations; and explaining the $1,500 Stimulus Energy Tax Credit. Even if your heating and cooling system is only 10 years old, you might be surprised just how substantial the
savings can be.

As straightforward as Jackson is on installation work, Pat says the company is equally up-front on maintenance and service repair work. “Our ‘No Surprises Guarantee’ means there are no hidden charges.” she promises. “You’ll be given options before work is performed.”

In fact, Gary says, all charges come from a standardized price book. That means every customer pays the same price, regardless of the size of the house or the neighborhood they live in. “You’d be surprised how many HVAC companies don’t do this,” Gary reveals.

Since Jackson technicians are not paid commission on parts, like at some companies, you don’t have to worry about them installing parts you don’t need.

The service professionals at Jackson Comfort recommend regular maintenance of your heating and cooling system to reduce the chance of unexpected breakdowns. Just as a tune-up for your car can improve your gas mileage, a yearly tune-up of your heating and cooling system can improve efficiency, assure safe operation, and extend equipment life.

“We’re great at solving problems that other companies can’t figure out,” Gary says. “And we offer free second opinions. For example, if another company tells you that your furnace has a bad heat exchanger or your air conditioner has a bad compressor, we’ll come out and give you a free second opinion to determine whether the first technician made a correct diagnosis.”

“Making customers happy,” says company president Paul Jackson, “is what has kept the company in business for so many years.’

“Our customer satisfaction rate is 98.5 percent, which is unheard of,” Gary says, proudly.  As part of the Trane Comfort Specialist program, Trane surveys all of Jackson’s service customers—regardless of the brand of their equipment—to gauge customer satisfaction.

Paul’s father started the business in the 1940s and the company has satisfied thousands of customers for more than 60 years.

“Customer service is where we stand out the most,” Paul says. “That’s an area that is lacking today. We understand people are busy. That’s why we offer evening and Saturday appointments, plus our exclusive ‘call to meet service.’  You don’t have to stay home waiting for the technician, we’ll call your cell when we’re on the way.”

Paul remains active in the business and is always accessible—unless he is in the community volunteering with the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, schools or church. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a favorite charity of Jackson Comfort Systems, and a portion of each installation is donated to the organization.
Through the “Heat the Town” program, Jackson technicians volunteer to maintain furnaces for low-income residents.

In 1994, Jackson merged with XXth Century Heating, which has served the Akron area since 1894, starting as a furnace manufacturer. Frank Pfahl, owner of XXth Century, remains with Jackson, offering a lifetime of expertise.
Jackson Comfort is currently offering 50% off an air conditioner with the purchase of a furnace.

Since gas furnaces are more efficient than ever, up to an amazing 97%, and air conditioners are more than double the efficiency of just 10 years ago, you’ll start saving money the first day it’s installed.

And, because the federal government is offering tax credits of up to $1,500 for the installation of a new, high-efficiency furnace, heat pump, central air conditioner or water heater for the tax years 2009 and 2010, this is an ideal time to save money, Gary says.

But be careful, he warns. Not all furnaces qualify for the tax credit. “We can help you to be sure that the furnace you purchase meets the criteria to qualify,” he says.
