Getting There

Dr. Trnka’s physical therapy practice includes corrective massage, exercise therapy, needling and kinesio taping.
A lot of our clients take yoga and pilates to deal with pain... bringing in physical therapy was a natural fit.
According to Beth and Matt Trnka, the path to better physical health is an easy one to maneuver; you just have to know where to begin. Find out how their Brunswick-based Pulse health studio is helping its clients get there.

Just two years ago, Beth Trnka launched her Brunswick-based Pulse, which has become one of the area’s leading locales for all things health and fitness. She started modestly, with yoga as the primary draw. Mat-based pilates quickly joined the roster of classes, and last summer she added private pilates sessions on state-of-the-art apparatus.
Her husband, Dr. Matt Trnka, an established doctor of physical therapy, recently expanded his Wadsworth practice to include a second office within Pulse. His InMotion Physical Therapy has provided the couple with the tools to essentially redefine fitness in Northeast Ohio.
“Many of our clients take yoga and pilates classes to deal with pain,” Matt explains. “But a lot of what I do incorporates elements of both. Bringing in physical therapy for those clients who may need a little extra help addressing pain issues was a natural fit.”
In fact, some of Matt’s physical therapy patients benefit from the same equipment Beth’s pilates clients utilize.
“The combination of yoga, pilates, and physical therapy under one roof is unique to this area,” she explains.
Dr. Trnka and InMotion Physical Therapy offer a hands-on approach to physical therapy and wellness. Whether you’re in pain, have loss of function, or simply want an enhancement to your health maintenance plan, InMotion has a variety of treatment options and methodologies. By combining manual therapy, such as massage and joint manipulation, with corrective exercise, including therapeutic yoga and pilates, Matt has seen patients enjoy remarkable success overcoming low back pain, headaches, and fibromyalgia among other conditions.
For unique physical therapy solutions, Dr. Trnka also offers Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN), Kinesio Taping, and the McKenzie Method of diagnosis and treatment.
“Physical therapy is a covered benefit under most insurance plans and I am in network with most major medical insurance, Medicare and Workers’ Compensation,” he says. You do not need a physician’s referral for treatment, but Dr. Trnka will communicate with your primary care physician regarding your treatment and progress.
Once you’ve returned to feeling like the picture of health, or if you’re exploring fitness options for the first time, Pulse is the place to be.
“Anybody is a candidate for pilates and yoga,” says Beth, who, with a certification in power pilates and as a registered yoga teacher (RYT), has a unique understanding of how clients of varying fitness levels can obtain their own beautiful bodies—safely.
“You don’t have to be in great shape. All of the movements can be tailored to your specific capabilities,” she adds. “Yoga and pilates really complement each other; both are movement-based and focus on body awareness and posture.”
Part of the reason pilates and yoga have become so popular is because both place an emphasis on working the body’s core—the back, abdominals and glutes. And you’ll never get bored.
“Every yoga and pilates class is unique and the movements and sequences are limitless,” Beth explains. “Plus, we have a team of fantastic and well-trained instructors who add their own special twists, styles and personalities to each class. This makes for a fun, challenging and new experience as you work toward your health and fitness goals.”
In addition to enjoying the dynamic of group-based mat classes, Beth also offers private sessions, including pilates apparatus training. “Private classes can help jump-start your health and fitness plan or compliment your group training,” she says.
Beth attributes much of her studio’s success to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. “This is such a fun place,” she smiles. “We have the greatest clients who appreciate our down-to-earth approach. It’s why people of all ages look to us to help them improve their fitness levels and their health. For some, it’s about attaining a better physical shape; for others, it’s about feeling better and improving function. But whatever the reason a person decides to embark on a new path to wellness, we can help them get there.”
