For most large-volume builders, customers choose from a given number of floor plans—and that’s it. No changes. Changes equate to custom building, a job that many builders will walk away from. Steve encourages it.

“We have many floor plans for clients to choose from,” he explains, “but you’re free to make changes. Plus, if you have your own plans, that’s okay, too.

Steve says he’s been surprised by how many people are choosing to build ranch style homes these days. “Let’s face it,” he says laughing, “baby boomers are aging and stairs are not fun anymore. We find that younger people want a two-story; middle aged families want a two-story, but with a first floor master suite so the teenagers can travel the stairs and leave their parents alone; and seniors want a ranch to maximize easy access.”

Steve adds that these homes are often built in the same development. “It feels good,” he says. “Families of all ages and descriptions are moving into the same developments. Our communities feature walking trails, play areas, clubhouse and other amenities that bring neighbors together.”
